25.01.2022 It’s Where Were We Wednesday . Have a guess #WWWW This is the hall at Irishtown near Northam... congrats to Michelle Belshaw who was super fast with her answer and wins the Glory for the week Some history of this gorgeous hall thanks to Inherit.stateheritage.wa.gov.au:... The Irishtown Agricultural hall has been significant to the rural community in the Irishtown district for over a hundred years. In 1893 some local farmers, John French and James McManus, decided to build a hall as the centre activities for the district. The cost of building the hall was 335 pounds, which included a government grant of 250 pounds. The hall was opened by Sir John Forrest in June 1894. Over the years it has been used by the community for a number of purposes. These include: Farmer’s Club, Football Club, Tennis Club, Badminton, Parents and Citizens, Pasture Improvement Club, Bushfire Brigade, Christmas Trees, Anglican Services, and also patriotic fundraising during the World Wars. The hall is owned by the local community and is managed by the Irishtown Committee Inc. The Centenary Celebrations were held on Sunday 2 October 1994. See more

19.01.2022 A slightly belated Halloween themed WWWW this week . Have a guess where this spooky place is #WWWW .... This is the Old Masonic Lodge in Cue - lots of correct answers but Mary Lou McCrudden-Nobes was quickest on the buzzer and wins this week’s Glory Extra info courtesy of www.cue.wa.gov.au: This somewhat spooky building on Dowley Street has laid the foundation for many a ghost story. The Lodge was built in 1899 of timber and galvanised iron, with pressed iron interior. Corrugated iron was used extensively in goldfield areas during this time because it was easily transported by camels. There are very few buildings of this type remaining in Australia although they are quite common in parts of the United States of America. Murchison Lodge 22 was consecrated on 21 April 1897. They held regular meetings in the building from 1899 to 1979, when they were cancelled due to insufficient numbers. Now owned by the National Trust of Australia, it is said to be the biggest, free standing, double story corrugated iron structure in the southern hemisphere that’s a claim to fame! See more

18.01.2022 It’s Where Were We Wednesday! Have a guess . #WWWW .... This teeny bank is in Shackleton (undoctored photo with name now shown), Shire of Bruce Rock..... info from their website: The Bankwest bank at Shackleton claims to be Australia’s smallest bank. This is a claim that few would argue with. Measuring only 3 metres by 4 metres the bank closed its doors from business for the last time in 1997. Thoughout its life, the building has been an Aircraft Observation Post during World War II, a Child Care Centre and the Bank of New South Wales before it finally became known as Bankwest. Danielle Thornton scoops this week’s Glory Trophy being first on the buzzer with the correct answer
