20.01.2022 If your drone isn't spending as much time in the air at the moment...below are some helpful tips to care for your batteries (they cost big $$$). 1. Batteries in transit Prior to travelling with drone batteries, they must be discharged to 50% (if travelling on an aircraft discharge to 5%). Always ensure that batteries are placed in a travel safe box or sleeve.... 2. Storing Batteries. If batteries are being left idle for 10 or more days, batteries need to be discharged to between 40-60% prior to storage. Never store batteries with 10% or less, there is a risk of damage occurring to the cells and the battery being useless. 3. Caution needed at high temperatures. If you plan to fly in an environment with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, it’s advisable to closely monitor the batteries internal temperature. If the temperature raises to higher then 70 degrees Celsius the battery may catch fire or even explode. 4. Drone not working with battery installed? It’s always a good idea to ensure the contacts on the battery are clean and free from debris prior to installing the batter in your drone. Sometimes it’s the simple things that we neglect that can cause big issues. #skywritemediadrones #joeythedroneguy

19.01.2022 @joeythedroneguy took this beauty just in time (i.e. right before a psycho bird came outta nowhere)

12.01.2022 Drones are so versatile and when we choose to use them for good, not evil, amazing things can happen. Day in the life of a drone: Deliver pizzas... Take pretty photos Measure and track construction progress Monitor plant and land health Track injured wildlife See more

10.01.2022 We've had a few questions about licencing for drone operators recently. A Remote Operator's Certificate (ReOC) is the highest accreditation for a UAV pilot and, coupled with a Commercial Remote Pilot Licence (RePL), allows the holder to operate drones over 2kgs with some of the usual restrictions lifted. This combination also allows the holder to be fully insured. If you have any questions about drone licencing or the 'rules', feel free to comment below or private message. We'll put together some FAQs on our website soon.

05.01.2022 Even if you're stuck in quarantine on a cruise ship, you can now get wine delivered to your cabin, by drone. What a time to be alive. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157533581847702&id=90004797701&sfnsn=mo

04.01.2022 As members of the drone industry, we have literally built our business models around social distancing. CASA regulations require us to steer clear of other people. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2835802393168852&id=620466278035819

04.01.2022 Fail to plan.....plan to fail. It's always a good idea to check for updates prior to getting to a job.

03.01.2022 Have you experienced a flyaway?? 1. Make Sure a Home Point Has Been Set If you want your aircraft to automatically return home, make sure a home point is set before you take off! You’ll need at least 4 GPS signal bars. 2. Look out for compass interference.... GPS signal is necessary but not sufficient for your drone to return to home safely. Your drone’s compass also needs to be relatively free from interference. GPS only determines the drone’s location; the compass determines its orientation. If you initiate RTH, your aircraft will turn its head and fly back to the Home Point. But if it doesn’t know which way to turn, it may end up flying somewhere else. 3. Keep your drone within line of sight. Your drone is much less likely to crash or get lost if you can see it with your own eyes. Sometimes flyways are just accidents resulting from the drone not being visible. Fly within line of sight and stay safe! 4. Reset the home point if you are moving. As long as you have sufficient GPS signal, your Home Point will set automatically when you take off. However, it won’t reset automatically if you move around. If you’re driving in a car or moving in a boat, you’ll need to reset your Home Point periodically. 5. Set an appropriate RTH height. The drone obstacle sensors won’t work in low-light situations, and pure glass surfaces and water may not be detected. Also, the obstacle avoidance sensors may not detect thin objects like tree branches or power lines. Always adjust the RTH altitude depending on current location. #skywritemediadrones #joeythedroneguy #dronecrash #droneaccident #droneflyaway

02.01.2022 Tallebudgera Connection Road - 19 January 2020

02.01.2022 That's a lot of important uses for one drone and a pilot but remember to always hire a qualified operator - a good way to find out is to ask if they have an RePL and a ReOC. No one should be operating a drone on or near a construction site without both. *Research done by DroneDeploy*

02.01.2022 They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.
