25.01.2022 One of the most common carbs of yesteryear was the good old Stromberg. Fitted to a gazillion vehicles. Let's see how this one was holding up inside. It looks reasonable from the outside....

25.01.2022 Oh! Just a point of interest o some of you guys. We are now Authorised to do the yearly UBER inspection certificates. So if you do uber, or know of someone that does, Please keep us in mind. Mike.

25.01.2022 I got a visit from this old distinguished blast from the past today. It did not need any work on it. Phill the driver just cruised over in it to pick up a old Chevy carb I had done a thread repair on for him. As always please like and follow. Merry Christmas to all.

24.01.2022 Sometimes I am asked how many bitz are in a carby? There cant be that much, is there? Here is a few pics of a simple mitsubishi carby, before I start REALLY pulling it down.

22.01.2022 Question for you guys.... Has somebody, somewhere, got a old steering box laying in the corner?. A non powersteer one. Preferably off a 4 cylinder? or early holden?? I have a repair on a Train coming up and who ever built it did a really crappy job. Over the years I have had to :-... Re align the engine and gearbox, it was twisted to the right by 4". Find an axle for it and shorten it. Turns out the axles cam from a Hillman Minx 1957 vehicle (That took some finding!). Rewire the whole thing. Now the steering has gone to hell. The way it was built I am not surprised actually. So I figure I can rebuild it around a old steering box. Currently it uses a push/pull system with a threaded rod inside a tube. If you have one you wish to donate or sell please leave a comment below. I will document the conversion and post it on here. Cheers.. Mike.

18.01.2022 VE Commodore belonging to Pete. Is the Medical car for the Queensland Raceway. Came in a received a pair of new rear wheel bearings. Fun job that was!

18.01.2022 A nice young fella called Fritz brought me a carb off a old Toyota RT104 for some work. I nearly forgot to take some pics but did grab a couple.

16.01.2022 Another Stromberg resurected from ill health. This one needed a shaft badly, had to go second oversize to get a good fit. Also removed a bucket load of sediment out of the inside. Couple of before and after pics for you. As always, please like and follow. Merry Christmas to all.

11.01.2022 Thanks to all the visitors who dropped by and liked this page. A big thumbs up to you guys and gals!. I am pleasantly surprised at the amount of people you actually know what a Carby is . A far as new content goes, nothing really different has crossed the workbench over the last few weeks, but i have some archived stuff you may enjoy. Again thanks and please subscribe and follow to get the newest pictures and stories. Mike.

10.01.2022 Mitsubishi Magna A little interesting story about a Magna I worked on this week. A friend of mine gave me a call and asked for some straight up advice. He knows I dont sugar coat things just to sound nice. His problem he explained, started a few day prior, when standing with the engine off all was fine, but as soon as he started the car and put it in gear, he had a large automatic fluid puddle under the car.... He asked what I thought it could be, I pondered for a second and said " You have a leak." After a few moments silence, he replied "I know that!, but from where?. He then went on to explain that he had rung around and the general consensus was the gearbox had to come out and he received quotes ranging from two thousand dollars to possible six and a half thousand if blah and blah was damaged. After all these shops and experts gave him a long spiel on what it was, he was slightly dumbfounded that all I had said was, it had a leak. I said, OK, You have a leak, probably a high pressure leak. and? he asked. My crystal ball is offline, so bring it around and let me check it out in person. Same reason the doctor actually wants to SEE you in person when you ring and tell him you feel like crap, whats wrong with you?. We agreed on a day and he turned up with his Magna leaving a trail from my house to his. Putting it up on the hoist showed the entire left side of the floor pan well and truly rustproofed. Just under 4 hours later, after stripping a huge amount of stuff out of the way, The leak was found, and repaired, and he was back on the road with the oil inside the gearbox not all on the outside. Cost of repair and parts less than ten percent that he was quoted over the phone. Moral of the story, take your car to someone you trust, do not listen to on the phone quotes. And find someone who is happy to fix your car without financing their new boat out of your pocket. Cheers for now...more carb stuff soon. Mike.

10.01.2022 Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all that follow this blog. Also a hearfelt thank you to all those that put faith in us to fix and repair your beloved vehicles!.

08.01.2022 I have got a bit of a hobby project that i would like to fiddle with. So I am looking for donations of any old laptop batteries that you may have laying around. Or know of someone that has a few.. I know its nothing to do with carbs, but I like to tinker in my spare time.. So anyone? Thanks in advance..

02.01.2022 I have a gentleman who has had Seven tractor carbs done in a row. He shall remain anonymous, Louis rang me last Wednesday and said he had a problem with one I had done a few weeks back. After a few minutes of chat I had given him 2-3 possible things to check, and if no joy bring it back. His issue was the carb was leaking fuel badly.... He rang me back a few hours later and told me it was the second possible fault I had suggested. His carb was suffering from a "Flink" . A "Flink" is when a Float Sinks. His carb has a two chamber float and one side over the weeks had filled with fuel. He dropped it off this morning, and its currently drying out and we shall see if I can sucessfully repair it and get him back on track. To be continued...
