18.01.2022 Longreach & Surrounds - we love the change to green however trips out of town in the Tow Truck return with layers of dead grasshoppers & insects. Best way to clean is to take immediate action; soften with water (sprinkler); spray with detergent; & scrub with a sponge or Enjo Car glove. Keep your sponge or Car glove clean so not to scratch your vehicle paintwork. Leave it caked on (overnight or in the sun) - so much harder to clean.

14.01.2022 Glass (Windscreen/ Glass) Insurance Got yourself a brand new car or getting one - consider getting Insurance cover for replacement windscreen as a client last week with their brand new RAV 4 found the cost of a screen to suit, was up near $1000 ( & thats not fitted). Newer model vehicles can require genuine windscreens to ensure all the new ADAS systems work. Just ask the question of your Insurance Company just to check you are covered.

06.01.2022 Safety reminder with loads in back of Utes. Monday, the Slade Smash team had some fire practice. A ute randomly pulled up in a hurry with a fire in the tray. A traveller had small gas bottles & a car fridge; something started the fire and the canopy burnt, car fridge burnt + 1 gas bottle was leaking gas.....Scary stuff. Traveller used hose to cool the gas bottles & temper the flames; then our boys used fire extinguishers before the Fire Trucks arrived.

06.01.2022 The office gets brightened every day with the arrival of our Office Admin Ashleigh - dressed for easter & bearing gifts from the Easter bunny. In reflection, it is 3 weeks since we commenced the COVID 19 shutdowns, Social Distancing etc. Slade Smash Repairs temperature tests staff every day with tools of the trade (infra red temp gauge) Stay Safe, Do the Right Thing and don't let Complacency creep in. 02.01.2022 Doug Slade sees some interesting events when rescuing/ towing clients from accidents when travelling. These lovely travelers in their VW Camper were challenged with a 'runaway'spare wheel from a passing cattle truck with trailers, coming at them. Luckily the tyre did not bounce through their windscreen; but tumbled under front and took the Rh front wheel & suspension out + buckled the floor. Outcome: Clients unhurt, VW did not roll, brake marks for 30+ metres & all brought back to town. Lovely clients who took our advice & realized VW was a material object & replaceable; & they were not in hospital. Packed their items up, took a plane home & sent us a thank you. 'Hope our tickets in RSL Coolangatta home win!'
