22.01.2022 How many times did you get up last night? Were you up before the sun this morning? If you were up (not by choice) before 5am thats actually considered the night, and if you were up before 6am (not by choice) thats early morning waking. I can help with multiple night wakes or early morning waking. www.sleepanddreambabies.com

22.01.2022 Do you play noise to soothe your baby to sleep? White noise is great for newborns, it's that fuzzy sound mimicking the sound of being in the womb. You play this continuously for the entire sleep period. For older children you might try some sounds from nature such as rain or wind. Pink or brown noise is similar to white noise with slightly lower tones found in nature. Playing noise can help block out external noises as well as soothe your baby back to sleep when they pass through the lighter sleep phase in their sleep cycle. What sounds do you play for your baby or child?

22.01.2022 Dropping your childs day nap is enough to make some parents cry...... however if your child is showing signs that its time you are best to phase it out, as you dont want it affecting their night sleep. At around age 3 (sometimes earlier) you can start by cutting back on the nap length and then offering a nap every second day for a week or two. You then might go to just a short nap twice a week on busy days before it is given up completely. Offer nice calm quiet time in lieu of nap time.

21.01.2022 . Id love to know what brings you the joy? Tell us what brought a smile to your face today?

17.01.2022 Rocking to soothe is great for newborns but as your baby grows it takes more and more rocking or motion to get them off to sleep. Start to reduce motion as an aid for sleep ie cars, prams or in your arms and aim to settle your baby in their cot more from 4 months of age. Of course you can have baby fall asleep with motion at times but to aim to get them used to settling themselves off to sleep have at least one nap a day in their cot.

09.01.2022 I love this post! It is really important to have these discussions about how to deal with the physical and mental effects of having a new baby. The support that may be required and the options on how to deal with these issues. I also love the discussion on roles and boundaries with Grandparents or other family members.

08.01.2022 Newborn babies have very little awake time especially in the first few weeks, they are awake long enough for a feed, nappy change a cuddle or play and then its time for their next nap. They may be awake for as little as 40-60 minutes especially in the mornings and first few weeks, this gradually increases to 90-120 minutes over the following weeks. Keeping an eye on their awake times and watching for tired signs helps prevent them from becoming overtired which makes it more difficult for them to go off to sleep.

03.01.2022 What's your biggest sleep issue? Babies only being able to go to sleep if they are held, rocked or fed to sleep are some of the most common sleep problems that parents struggle with. This can cause sleep and settling problems once baby is over 4 months of age but is something that I can help you with - ask me how

02.01.2022 Realistic Expectations are so important! Knowing what is reasonable and achievable for your babys age and stage of development can be so helpful. Like is having a newborn hard work? Absolutely!!!! Its exhausting having broken sleep when youre not used to it! Does the 4 month regression really hit that hard? ... For some definitely it can be a super tricky time! Is having a newborn and a toddler close in age really that difficult? You bet ya! Those early months can be full on juggling naps, feeds, meals and bedtime along with everything else in your life. Knowing what to expect helps you have the right mindset to deal with these challenges and getting some support is also a realistic solution to your problems. www.sleepanddreambabies.com
