25.01.2022 #ToddlerSleepTip If you're working on your toddlers sleep or behavior chances are you're having to get strict at bed time. This can be quite draining emotionally for both you and your toddler. Make sure if your refilling your toddlers emotional cup with one on one time. ... Stories snuggled on the couch. Go for a short walk together, phones away! Puzzle time. Get your toddler to help with baking or washing up (they love getting bubbly and wet!) Drawing or coloring together. What else do you use as toddler one on one time? Give it a go and see how behavior improves!
23.01.2022 Its getting colder! What are you sleeping your babies and toddlers in? I recommend you use a sleeping bag for the best solution as the temperature drops.... You can use merino over the cooler months to create a snug, breathable, temperature regulating environment. Check out the merino kids sleeping bags! Or a cotton, poly based bag such as a gro bag or ergo pouch bag. Try to keep your room between 18-20 degree's, using a heater on a timer if need be. This way you can stick with 2-3 layers under the bag (not blankets on top of the sleeping bag). Layers would include cotton, or merino singlets, or onesies. Long sleeve body suits or pajama's. Or full thermals once it gets really cold. This way no matter how much your baby or toddler moves, they stay nice and warm! If you need some help with any recommendations please contact me as I'm happy to answer any questions.

22.01.2022 This morning I woke to a lovely message from a old friend with some amazing news. 'Hey love just wanted to say the boys are sleeping through we have broken the habit and the last 2 days have slept from 6.30 and we have woken them at 7 to go to care!! Thank you' Over a month ago Gemma came to me asking for help with her twin boys Noah and Liam. ... Gemma wrote to me saying, it's so strange the boys were absolutely amazing sleeps until about 2 months ago and since then it's been crazy. She had tried everything even all things she learnt at the Mother Baby Unit were she went with her older child and nothing seems to work. The boys were waking 9.30 - 10 12.30 - 1 3.30 - 5 For a bottle and then waking and starting the day from 5 or 6 am. This was my first time working with twins and around there age15 months. I was scared and hoping I New enough information to help them. After a month of working consistently and using the sleep plan made up for them, we seeing results. Happy little sleeps, equals happy mummy. See more
19.01.2022 Let's talk about realistic expectations for infant sleep... Young babies feed regularly: they wake often because their metabolism is not developed to the point where they're physically able to consume the amount of calories they need to grow and thrive within the daylight hours. It's not unusual for a really young baby to only sleep when they're on you - it's totally natural! Of course, this will probably mean that you aren't able to get much done in those first few months b...ut that's pretty normal too. Swaddling firmly around upper body and loosely around hips and white noise can help, otherwise baby wearing (ergos etc) can be a lifesaver! Most young babies don't link sleep cycles in the daytime. We don't expect 4 month olds to be smashing out 90 minute sleeps alone in their cots. If they do, great bonus! But it's not the norm and you shouldn't feel like a failure if your baby doesn't do it. The way a baby sleeps is mostly a result of nature, not nurture. Just because someone else's baby self settles at 2 months doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. Some babies are really alert and these little champions will always be harder to get down to sleep. It's not you, it's them. hahahaha Let go of the blame! You didn't CREATE problems by holding, nursing, bouncing or rocking your baby to sleep. You are not to BLAME. You were simply doing the best you could at the time with the information available to you. If I, had a tiny baby tomorrow I too would nurse and cuddle that little bundle to sleep. And finally: you cannot spoil a young baby with love. You don't need to withhold love and cuddles for fear of creating a problem. Amanda
18.01.2022 If you believe what the experts says then you are going down the wrong road with your child. Don't think for a minute that your tiny baby is not affected by this. This insensitivity to your child's feelings can be born here and bred into other areas as they grow. If your baby wants you to hold him during the day, and you're too busy with other things, you can convince yourself that he won't be permanently harmed by your i attention. As he gets older, when he wants to play bal...l with you but you're otherwise occupied, you can rationalisation that he's better off playing with his friends. If he wants you to attend a school function and you are too tired, you can argue that your presence really isn't necessary. You are setting up a pattern in babyhood that will follow for the rest of your life in your relationship with your child. There are times to encourage independence in your children, but parents should choose those times with wisdom. Amanda See more
17.01.2022 A lot of people assume we let newborns cry it out, as they think this is the only to work on sleep. They couldn't be more wrong! Healthy sleep habits from birth means making sleep a priority, just like feeding. ... Establish a good sleep environment. Look for sleep cues and early tired signs Set up positive sleep associations, like swaddling and white noise. Figure out how your baby likes to be settled, whether it's rocking or patting or a pacifier, then start to work on drowsy but awake. Know every day is different and keep trying even if you have a bad nap or a bad night or day! X Amanda Photo of Baby Indie one of my newborn clients
16.01.2022 Are short naps driving you crazy? When did your baby stop taking short naps? Benefits of longer naps are:... Naps longer than 30 minutes are especially important because after 30 minutes baby is in a deep sleep and things like memory and immune system are strengthened in this time. Bones and tissues are repaired, appetite is regulated, growth hormone is released, energy levels are restored and stress is reduced. After 1 hour or more Babies get into REM sleep, here short term memory is transferred into long term memory, newly learnt skills are secured, brain connections are made, vision is sharpened and babies process emotions in this time and reduce stress levels again. Our email or call me if you are just struggling with naps.
16.01.2022 Teething suck!! I definitely don't miss the teething stage at all, but I do hate it when I miss out on having amazing product like these when Cooper and Olive were teething. @_littlewoods teethers are made from non-toxic, soft touch 100% Silicone. They can be refrigerated or placed in the freezer when teething is extra difficult. Easy to clean just wash with warm soapy water. Franklin and his Mummy Zoey loved the teether. Zoey said the star shape has proved effective for him -he enjoyed being able to hold 2 points of the star. He also sat for 15 uninterrupted minutes chewing his new teether. 07.01.2022 As I learn more about sleep I have learnt about products that will help improve your baby's sleep. These are a few of my favourite essentials I would recommend. #ollietheowl is actually a miracle on its own but combined with a dark room which the #groblinds will help if you don't already have block out blinds and then add a great arms down swaddle you will end up with a baby who will settle so much easily and sleep for longer. @thegrocompanyaus.
07.01.2022 How many hours a day or in a 24 hour period "should" your baby be sleeping? I am sure there are some super sleepers out there who take that much sleep.... but the average 6 month old is having 2-3 naps a day, totaling 2.5-3 hour, not 6 hours a day! Or if they are having 6 hours, their bed time is 10pm, not 7pm......
