25.01.2022 In light of it being PNDA awareness week we knew we had to share some words. But every time I sat down to write anything it would turn out being full of cliche facts and statistics, which are important to mention but it wasn't enough for me. I wanted to have a post that the 1 in 7 new mums and up to 1 in 10 new dads that are diagnosed with postnatal depression each year, could relate to. Enough to know that they are not alone. So when I came past Mel Watts- The Modern Mummas blog piece I knew that's what needed to be shared. There has never been more perfect words. Thank you for sharing Mel, and just quietly we think your pretty bloody inspiring!! Mel Watts - The Modern Mumma

24.01.2022 When adults get tired they slow down, when children get tired they do the opposite. Is your child over active at night time? Chances are they are overtired

24.01.2022 Ain't that the truth!.. Sometimes as mums we spend so much time looking after these little people that we forget to look after ourselves. It's equally as important to ensure that we are just as looked after. That's why today we are demanding that you all do one thing for yourself. A nice long walk, a hot coffee watching a bit of trash tv during nap time. Anything that's going to recharge those mum batteries

24.01.2022 http:// Did you know the average age for a toddler to drop down from two naps to one nap is roughly between 15 & 18 months. Like everything sleep related, there isn't a one size fits all approach. So here are the key signs to look for before dropping your little ones day sleep. 1) Your toddler is getting 11-12 hours of uninterrupted night sleep. ... 2) Your toddler is taking longer and longer to fall asleep for that first nap. 3) Your toddler is waking increasingly earlier during the first nap and refusing a second nap. The best way to transition to one nap is to push the morning nap out a little later for 2-3 days (roughly around 11am) then push it a little later again for 2-3 days (roughly around 11:30) then go to 12pm and then 12:30/1, which is where the one nap should stay.

23.01.2022 "My baby hates being swaddled". If I had a dollar.. My number one piece of advice for any mums to be, is to swaddle your baby from day one. Swaddling is super important as it recreates the womb like feeling they are used to, helping them ease into "the fourth trimester" (first few months earth side)...It also helps minimise the startle reflux which can be quite distressing. And I can assure you babies DO love being swaddled.

23.01.2022 Did day light savings hit your house hold like a ton of bricks?.... Well look on the bright side, early bedtime tonight

21.01.2022 Our current situation- Transitioning to a toddler bed With being almost halfway through my second pregnancy I was beginning to really struggle to pick up my 18 kg heffa so we were left with no choice but to ditch the cot earlier then I and the babe for that matter would have liked. Here's some of our tips to help you transition to a toddler bed: ... Ideally wait to as close to three years old as you can. Get your little one involved in the bed picking process even let them be apart of the assembly process. Place your bed in the same position as the cot was. This allows your toddlers view to remain the same. Make the bed a welcoming place. Spend some time reading books or chatting in it after naps or morning wake up. Use the silent return method every time they leave the room. And stay consistent. It's important to set the expectation to stay in their bed right from the start.

20.01.2022 What excuses are your little ones using to avoid bedtime tonight?

19.01.2022 We've been seeing a few articles like this circling lately and think it's important to point out that just like anything in life, if you aren't adhering to correct form then of course injuries are going to occur. Swaddling when conducted properly is perfectly safe and will not damage your baby. So, when swaddling your baby we suggest you follow our swaddling safety tips: 1- Use a lightweight swaddle- It's important that you use a breathable material to prevent overheating. ... 2- Make sure the swaddle wont unravel A loose blanket can end up covering your babys airway. 3- Dont swaddle too tightly When swaddling you want to ensure baby is snug but comfortable and that you've allowed enough flexibility for baby's natural movement of the legs/hips to prevent hip issues like hip dysplasia. (YouTube have great how to's on correct swaddling form) 4- Place baby on his/her back to sleep When baby sleeps on his/her tummy he is more likely to rebreathe his own exhaled air and start to overheat, both of which can lead to SIDS. 5- Stop swaddling when baby begins to roll. 6- Dont swaddle all day Babies need freedom to move around and learn their bodies. Even if your little one loves being wrapped up all day, give him/her time to develop and leave the swaddling for sleep time. See more

19.01.2022 Breast fed or Bottle fed? Our motto is and always will be? Fed is best! Who cares which way your baby is fed, as long as you and they are happy and healthy. There is far too much pressure put on mums to breast feed and far too much judgement put on mums who chose not to.

12.01.2022 http:// Should your newborn sleep in a light room during the day to help teach the difference between day and night? Daytime and nighttime means very little to your baby, so being in a light or a dark room wont change that. Babies find the dark extremely comforting and it will be a lot easier for your baby to settle and sleep (and stay asleep) in a dark room. Especially if your baby is over 2 months old as the dark promotes the release of melatonin, which is a hormone crucial to your baby settling and sleeping well. Day sleep and night sleep is neurologically differentiated in your babys brain (increasing as they get older) so the light and dark in their room will have very little effect on their understanding of day or night, but a big impact on the quality of their sleep.

12.01.2022 Couldn't not repost this. Constance Hall just keeps hitting the nail on the head. :@mrsconstancehall

11.01.2022 Carrie Bickmore knows what's up! We've said it before but we'll say it again, foil up those Windows ladies! I see so many parents busting themselves, enforcing routines and strict resettling (which is fantastic) but there's not point doing all that if your sleep environment isn't in check. : @bickmorecarrie

06.01.2022 ... Did anyone's little one have a particularly restless night last night? Could the super moon be to blame? Rumour has it, that full moons can cause bad quality sleep. If your babe did have a bad night, try moving bedtime half an hour earlier tonight.

04.01.2022 When nothing is going to undo the hour of settling your baby to sleep, not even you leaving the room. Like or comment if you've had to inherit ninja moves since becoming a parent.

03.01.2022 Toddler sleep tip: If you find your 20 month + babe sleeping well during the day but then fighting bedtime. Try cutting down their day sleep to roughly an hour. From this age they only need 13 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. I would also recommend moving bedtime to 6:45pm to take advantage of their natural sleep window.

03.01.2022 At 4am there is nothing more important then operation find that dummy! We recommend the sleepy tot with four dummies attached to help Bub find it their self and lessen the likelihood of you needing to be a dummy ninja

02.01.2022 Stuck under a sick sleeping toddler and if you think for a minute I'm moving you are wrong. Mainly because I'm secretly loving the cuddles. Anyone else held hostage by a sleeping baby ?

02.01.2022 http:// Morning or night time baths? Did you know bathing at night time actually helps your little one fall asleep faster. Struggling to fall asleep yourself, how about a nice long soak tonight. See more
