20.01.2022 This is a White-striped Freetail Bat ( by Stephen Griffiths), and is the only local species of microbat whose calls can be heard by humans. The rest are only audible through bat detectors, and they're VERY hard to see. But if you're out at night in Melbourne, chances are there's a microbat hidden in a tree nearby. Their show, SleepTalker, is a new favourite of mine I highly recommend sussing out the archive of past shows, too, if you don't have much to do at the moment ... or if you need a break from anything else you are dealing with at the moment. Bec says: "The new Haji K. project has a thick sonic character to it, rather than the very digital sheen of his Nico Niquo project. This project is what he calls home music, his own take on the daydream and chaos of creating and being locked away in quiet ambient spaces, where the shift of time is reflected only by the fading of light in the sky."
