23.01.2022 Lets just go with.....its okay to not be okay right now:). Wombat Jaxzyn demonstrating what indoor exercising could involve within a confined space! Stay sane people.

19.01.2022 Yes, one wombat was prepared for the rain this time......

19.01.2022 For those who saw Wombat Sizzle arrive in the Dodo Heros program (she arrived on deaths door)....... yes, she did survive and is now the most gorgeous, wonky wombat at the sanctuary who has no idea of her size when it comes to play time!

19.01.2022 Bushfire update: We have had some interesting times in the fire-zone over the past few months. It has been over 4mnths since the fires started in Tallaganda National Park. The trees and ferns have started regrowing and its gorgeous to see. But in terms of food for wildlife, there is precious little for them to eat. We knew we would have to keep supporting with water and feed as every creek was bone-dry. But by the end of February we started to have huge rainstorms which is a ...double edged sword. At least the animals have water which is a huge improvement but the intensity of the storms meant that most of the topsoil washed away. We are only now, from late March, seeing grass growing here and there in small patches, hopeful but not nearly enough to sustain wildlife...yet. Both of us have been having fun driving in the mud, getting stuck, getting unstuck and laughing all the way. No other way to do it :) Special thanks to Lake George Winery - Canberra District who donates baskets of grapes that we feed the possums and wallaby's with. As you can see, they absolutely love it. Even a fox came by and stole a bunch of grapes. One thing is for sure, the animals are very hungry We are painfully aware that COVID-19 has taken over the world and bushfires are long forgotten, but from both of us, Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary and from Wombat Rescue our thanks to you who keep on supporting us.

17.01.2022 In our current world of chaos, there are always those wombats willing to help and make you smile!

16.01.2022 Our wombats here bat for Ford. Are you a Toyota or Ford supporter? Find out what we got up to today during a bushfire food for wildlife run in week 16. As they say...if you have lemons, make lemonade. Or in our case, if you have hay, build a road! And although we are joking about the Landy...hats of to Mark, Chris and Denise who stopped and helped us. You are absolutely awesome. Thank you so much! Without your help we would probably still be there chewing on hay and horse pe...llets. As always, thank you for supporting this feeding with Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary and Wombat Rescue.

14.01.2022 Wombat Tetley, showing that even in a confined environment, one can exercise while 'sort of' maintaining a social distance!

12.01.2022 What a wombat does when a wombat is not being a wombat, burrows are flooded (yet again ironically) and one needs to social distance.....you do this apparently!

10.01.2022 I have to maintain a sense of humour through this all. So.........social distancing measures taken in the wombat world by Lady Jane!

08.01.2022 If there is one video you watch this year, this is it. Its GOLD! Week 11 Tallaganda fire zone update: First episode of Bush TV productions presented by @wWombat Rescue and Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary: Who will be the victor in the quest for food.... Wombat Skywalker.....Walla-Chewbacca or Possum Vader... Our strategically placed wildlife motion censor camera is filming a very popular foodstation in the Tallaganda fire area. You be the judge as if you have donated for the food for these guys, be proud. 07.01.2022 World is a bit crazy right now ,,,,,but it could be worse, you could have a wombat in your washing machine:)!

06.01.2022 Female wombat - she is dry and safe from the recent flooding. You can look.............but not touch!

06.01.2022 Correct...that is not a wombat, its a duck! Ducks love water. Wombats do NOT. So, in this time of immense flooding, I would ask certain people before you call and rant about having a wombat in your shed, or under your vehicle or on your verandah, take a minute to educate yourself as to why they are there in the first place - burrows are flooded! Give them a few days and believe you me, they will leave, they have no desire to live amongst humans. Some tolerance is required here folks. And logical thinking as to why the wombat is there in the first place.

04.01.2022 How to protect one's toilet paper at a wombat sanctuary, put a wombat on 'guard' duty!

04.01.2022 Tallaganda and bushfire wildlife update - week 15 After the torrential rain we had, grass started growing so we get asked why we still go in to help wildlife. Simply because the fire ravaged national parks have no grass. Yes life abounds but there is still no food for the animals. The grass we saw was all on rural farmland. You can also see how thin the wombats are. The food we provide is high quality feed which will help them gain condition quickly as they are starving.... It's important to know that support feeding and watering wildlife is now more critical than ever because of the assumption that there is water and food. They are now more hungry than ever and we will have to continue doing this for a while yet. If you want to support us, you can donate directly to the rural stock supply store where we source our food: BRural - Bungendore Rural Services Pty Ltdl brural.com.au or (02) 6238 1517 BSB 012-812 Acc 493271123 Use WOMBAT RESCUE as reference As always, Wombat Rescue and Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary love collaborating on this project and thank each and every one of you that support us.
