25.01.2022 Congratulations to our Fri Intro to K9 Noseworks who completed their course this week, You were all superstars

17.01.2022 Just a reminder to everyone that there are no classes on this week or weekend! I am improving really quickly but not quite there yet. I will let everyone know early next week. Currently the BOM app is showing that it is going to be too hot for any training on Tues.

11.01.2022 Sniffer dogs capable of detecting COVID-19 could soon be stationed at Australian airports! We went to meet the canine coronavirus detectives as their training gets underway

11.01.2022 Looking for a great treat pouch. I thoroughly recommend these. They are brand new but I saw the sample and have been waiting in anticipation for them to arrive.

10.01.2022 Once trained, canines can detect citrus greening disease earlier and more accurately than current diagnostics. Can Disease-Sniffing Dogs Save the World’s Citrus...? This is a major step in the development of what could be a really important early detection tool, It could give growers information about potential exposure to the causative bacteria. The mottled yellow leaves, the withered branches, the small, misshapen fruits, tinged with sickly green. These were the signs to associate with huanglongbing, or citrus greeninga devastating and wildly infectious bacterial infection that slashed for instance the United States’ orange juice yields by more than 70 percent in the span of a decade. As the disease continues to creep into new regions, researchers worldwide are scrambling to contain it. But the task has proved difficult: No effective treatments, cures or vaccines exist for huanglongbing, the product of a bacterium called Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (or CLas, pronounced sea lass) that’s ferried from tree to tree by winged insects. Scientists have also found the microbes to be extraordinarily difficult to grow and study in the lab. So again, early detection is key. And again dogs do the job!

08.01.2022 Here are some more of our graduates who completed their courses with Sleuth Houndz last week

06.01.2022 Training a fox Mondays with Melissa! . Viktor in his scent work training. Training days end up leaving my face hurting from laughing so hard at how creative e...ach of these guys are during their training sessions. Today, Viktor found his scent canister with some serious sass and cuteness overload! . We actually placed some of canisters in slightly harder spots to challenge them a bit more. Viktor and Maksa didn’t seem to have much difficulty finding them even with the fan on and The big scary wolf pacing on the other side of the slider. They were focused to their job! . Training them in scent work provides enrichment for them and they truly enjoy their training sessions! . We are in the process of building a training room at the center, so we can continue these training sessions there and we can actually offer training sessions for the public - Train a fox Encounter!! Would you be interested in something like that? . . . If you want to help us build the training room or are a design or construction company willing to sponsor or lend a hand, please let us know!! . . #trainingafox #scentwork #mondayswithmelissa #viktor #redfox #russiandomesticatedfox #furfree #nonprofit #fundraising #supportlocal #training #bombsniffingdog #drugsniffingdog #sandiego #socal #volunteer #construction #trainingroom #buildit See more

05.01.2022 Have you ever felt anxious waiting to see the doctor/dentist/physio/chiro etc? Well so do our pets! Some great vet clinics now have scent gardens outside that y...ou can let your dog sniff to their heart’s content while you wait. It’s great for self-soothing and aids in the release of some ‘happy’ hormones so that by the time they’re ready to be seen they are a bit more relaxed rather than super wound up. Here is Gypsy showing how it works See more
