14.01.2022 St Laurence Housing Limited has announced that they will partner with Villawood Properties and Bendigo Bank to deliver a new display home specifically designed for people with disability. To be located at the flagship Armstrong Mt Duneed community, the display home will provide people with a disability, as well as their families and carers, with a first-hand opportunity to visualise potential modifications, contemporary equipment and assistive technologies that will enhance ...their capability to live with dignity and as independently as possible. The home will display a significant number of the available modifications and assistive technologies which will allow people with disability to live with their maximum level of independence. Items such as fully-adjustable kitchens, installed ceiling hoists, accessible bathrooms, home automation systems and many more will be featured in the home. This home will be one of the first fully-kitted and operational display homes for people with disability. St Laurence Housing Limited Manager Housing Services Matthew Cheal said that showcasing these features in a real home environment would acknowledge the role developers and builders could play in building inclusive design practices around people with specific needs. "This exciting project demonstrates St Laurence Housing Limited's commitment to pursuing socially-inclusive practices for people with disability," he said. "We are delighted to partner with Villawood Properties and Bendigo Bank to be able to secure such a state of-the-art display home in a premium and highly patronised display village. "We are committed to providing people with disability a state-of-the-art display home demonstrating many of the available modifications and assistive technologies that can be included to enable a person with disability to reach their maximum level of independence." As part of Armstrong's second display village, the accessible home is due to open to the public in early 2017.
