25.01.2022 The Red Centre is sometimes orange... Planning to visit Alice Springs and Uluru? Check out our recent blog post about exploring the nearby MacDonnell Ranges! Stunning rock formations and icy pools await. https://www.slightlylost.com.au//camping-in-the-macdonnell
21.01.2022 Outdoor kitchens are the best when you’ve got a view like this one! Lake Tinaroo is a great spot to stop on the drive between Cairns and Atherton. There are multiple campgrounds here, and all of them are part of Danbulla National Park which means camping is just under $7 per person! Our favourite was Platypus Campground which offers decent facilities and a lakefront view. Where's your favourite spot to camp in Queensland?
20.01.2022 Lovely Lake Tinaroo, perfect view with a meal for two We're so happy to be back on the road! For those who didn't know, our ute was out of commission for a while. We had already planned to go down to Adelaide to visit Bobby's family and it was fixed while we were away. We were actually really excited to get back to our camper trailer which has become "home" for us. This was our first meal back on the road again and it made us appreciate being able to travel, despite the setbacks we've experienced so far. Here's to the open road!
19.01.2022 ALERT: PLATYPUS SIGHTING!!! Want to know where we spotted this one cruising along the river? Comment below!
19.01.2022 A bit behind in our videos... If you haven't visited Fraser Island, put it at the top of your list!
19.01.2022 If you’re into caves, this semi-remote Queensland spot has hundreds of caverns to explore. If you don’t want to mess with getting a caving permit, just stop at The Hub and sign up for a ranger-guided tour of 1 of 3 large caverns. You can also do a few self-guided tours! Look up Chillagoe on SlightlyLost.com.au for more info.
18.01.2022 This rainstorm rolled through the night before we were leaving Uluru. We stuck around a bit longer to admire the storm clouds and get that little thrill every time you see a bolt of lightning. This is true Outback. See more images of Uluru at www.slightlylost.com.au/post/visiting-uluru.
17.01.2022 There are 3 self-guided caves in Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park. 2 of them are right by the ranger-guided caves, perfect to kill some time while you wait. Drive to the Donna Cave car park, and follow the paved sidewalk until it ends. Don't forget your headlamps! See more photos on the blog -> https://www.slightlylost.com.au//chillagoe-mungana-caves-n.
15.01.2022 Our Canadian friends repping their new CU in the NT gear... And making friends with camels. See more at www.slightlylost.com.au/post/visiting-uluru.
14.01.2022 We had multiple Aussies tell us there’s nothing in Chillagoe. If by nothing you mean epic rock formations, desert sunsets, spelunking, and a gorgeous swimming hole, then yeah, there’s nothing here The first rule of travel is to always take what people tell you with a grain of salt. Locals are often jaded, despite never having visited where you’re about to go. If you want to do something, just do it! Within reason, of course... Where's somewhere you've gone, despite advice from the locals?
13.01.2022 Did you know there's a name for formations like this? Precariously balanced rocks, or PBRs for short. Wonder when this one will topple? What will be the cause, erosion or earthquake? A particularly large bird? All we know is that it's a spectacular view from up there.
12.01.2022 Lovely Edith Falls is the perfect stop between Katherine Gorge and the turnoff for Kakadu National Park. If you're planning on driving from Alice Springs to Darwin, check out our latest post with tips on where to stop! www.slightlylost.com.au//driving-from-alice-springs-to-dar
10.01.2022 While our ute has broken down 3 times in 3 months, our @blackseriescamper hasn't let us down! We've really settled into life in our offroad camper trailer. In fact, we're getting quicker at setup and teardown and are really enjoying how comfortable we are while still feeling like we're in the great outdoors. We're working on a blog of improvements we've made to the Dominator, so follow us on Insta and at slightlylost.com.au to find out more!
09.01.2022 Which came first, the trailer or the ute? Getting ready to go off road in a used 4WD should be easy with some tips from our most recent blog Check it out at www.slightlylost.com.au/post/off-road-in-a-used-4wd!
08.01.2022 A drive through Atherton Tablelands wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Curtain Fig Tree. Our wide angle lens couldn't even fit it all in! Have you ever seen a tree like this?
08.01.2022 If you're in need of a cool-down in Chillagoe (which you will be, even in winter it was hot!), take the 2 minute drive off the main road to Bogey Hole. This little oasis looks small but has enough waterfalls and Tarzan ropes to entertain everyone. Want to know what else to do in the little town of Chillagoe? Check out our blog on SlightlyLost.com.au.
03.01.2022 Wondering about which day trip to take to see the Great Barrier Reef? There are soooo many options, it can be overwhelming. We checked out two different companies leaving from Cairns, specifically companies that offer diving. Read about our outings with Passions of Paradise and Reef Experience on our latest blog post! ... www.slightlylost.com.au//how-to-choose-the-best-diving-day
02.01.2022 Just chillin' in some hot springs Mataranka was a beautiful spot that we've heard so much about and we were happy to take a dip in these crystal clear waters. Actually, these springs weren't hot, more like room temp. See more pics of amazing (and free!) springs around this area: www.slightlylost.com.au//driving-from-alice-springs-to-dar.
