24.01.2022 Slow Food Hunter Valley partnering with The Maitland city library to create a "seed library". Local seeds adapted to local conditions and a community creating food security from local knowledge and shared ideas of growing food in backyards.

21.01.2022 Reintroducing food biodiversity through the first native food garden in #mymaitland. 25 species and 300 plants from the local area. Federal funding through the community environment project grant scheme and supported by #MerylSwanson MP for Paterson. This is a project implemented by slow food hunter valley in conjunction with the #maitlandrutherfordgirlguides. The local troupe will monitor the plants for growth, seasonality, water usage etc. This garden is part of the slow food #arkoftaste project to preserve and protect food that are endemic to the area and are at risk of extinction.

Just in time for those days in the garden, Slow Food Hunter Valley in partnership with the Maitland City Libraries have launched a seed library. Seasonal offerings of seeds to be planted right now with data sheets on how to plant, harvest and save seeds.
