Gaining his bronze medallion in 1992, he has maintained a 100% patrol record at Bronte for over 28 years. Graham was recognised at Branch level as both Volunteer of the Year and Member of the Year. He was further recognised at State level as Volunteer of the year in 2006. In addition to his 120 National Awards, Graham was awarded SLSA Life Membership in 2017.... 22.01.2022 Elly Miller's lightning pace dazzled the beach for almost a decade. From 2006 and 2015, Elly won a total of 13 Australian Championship Gold Medals in beach events, including ten individual Gold Medals, plus six Silver and three Bronze medals. Elly bolted on to the Opens stage aged only 15, taking out the 2007 Open Womens Beach Sprint. Her performances on the beach saw her only one year later being named the 2008 Aussies Female Champion Competitor. In 2019-20, the report showed that there were 125 coastal drowning deaths, which included 45 on beaches, 41 offshore and 26 at rock/cliff locations. 04.01.2022 Fatal bystander rescues have been found to be strongly linked with rip currents, with bystanders (usually family or friends) going to the aid of someone in difficulty, which is often a child or adolescent under 18 years old. Taking a couple of seconds to STOP, LOOK, PLAN could make a big difference. Simple things like not rushing in and grabbing a flotation device can help reduce the chance of drowning.
