25.01.2022 Here we go again! As of midnight tonight, VIC is in lockdown again, therefore classes at Small Steps Ballet will NOT be recommencing next week. Im deeply sorry for the inconvenience, and sadness it may be causing your little ballerinas. Please stay safe and well everyone! We will get through this together

24.01.2022 Today Small Steps Ballet opened its doors again for ballet class for the first time since March! Ballerinas were taller, tutus were tighter and a few new additions (new students and baby siblings) I honestly didn’t think today would happen this year, and I’m so blessed to have you all back to ballet, even if it’s only for 4 weeks. You have all made Miss Michelle very happy! Welcome back everyone!

23.01.2022 Step of the week! Arms and feet in 2nd position! All my Small Steps dancers are so great at 1st position with their feet, why not try 2nd position, its just like 1st position but with a gap in between your heels. Did you know that the gap should be about a foot length apart, so not too wide! Once you have practiced 2nd position with your feet, try 2nd position with your arms!

12.01.2022 Step of the week is RETIRE! When teaching Retire to preschoolers, I refer to this movement as a balance on one leg. Ask your little dancer if they can get their toes of their lifted leg to kiss the knee of the leg they are standing on. The knee can be lifted facing the front or the side. Its a bit tricky standing on one leg when youre little, so try this holding onto something at home before testing your balance! Good luck and have fun

If your child is a current student returning, please let Miss Michelle know ASAP if you havent already. Want your little one to trial a class? I taught her for 2 years, introducing her to basic ballet movements taught through imagination and storytelling. Lauren is now 8 years old, and for the past 6 years she has continued to work hard and strengthen her ballet technique at a local dance school. ... It was obvious she was a natural talent right from the start! It all starts with Small Steps

07.01.2022 Small Steps Ballet is expanding with 2 new locations, Bundoora and Reservoir, commencing in 2021 and a new teacher joining us! I’m thrilled to welcome Miss Jess to our SSB family in 2021. Miss Jess will take classes in Doreen next year. ‘Miss Jess’ Adv 2 Cert (I.S.T.D) Advanced Cert (Cecchetti Ballet)... Miss Jess has been dancing for over 20 years and commenced her dance journey at the age of five years old. She was trained in the Cecchetti method of Ballet and went on to study multiple dance genres including jazz, contemporary, hip hop and pointe. Jess has many years experience teaching young children to dance, including teaching the Kinderballet programs. She loves the Kinderballet program as it encompasses her passion for dance and movement, as well as imaginative play. Jess is thrilled to join the SSB team in 2021 and cannot wait to meet the Doreen Kinderballerinas! Miss Jess has just welcomed her first child a few weeks ago. We congratulate her and wish her all the best! Welcome to the team Miss Jess

02.01.2022 Its official, classes in MACLEOD and BRIAR HILL are back in Term 3. All families have been notified by email so if you are returning, but havent got in touch yet, please do so ASAP! DOREEN, we are still waiting to hear from Council, so Ill be in touch as soon as we have the ok to resume classes! ... New classes in RESERVOIR will be tentatively commencing in Term 4 due to the venue remaining closed. We are also taking NEW ENROLMENTS for Term 3.
