13.05.2022 From 1 November, an employee’s super account will follow them, or be ‘stapled’ to them, when they move from job to job. If you are an employer, this will mean some changes when a new staff member joins your business.

25.04.2022 The Fair Work Ombudsman has secured $86,000 in penalties in the Federal Circuit Court against the operators of two food outlets in northern Queensland. 18 empl...oyees, including 11 juniors aged between 15 and 18 years old, were underpaid a total of $13,913.63. In addition to the penalties, the Court has ordered the operators to back-pay the employees plus interest. Employers are on notice that they must pay all employees according to Australia’s lawful minimum pay rates and we will continue to take action to protect young workers. We will enforce the law in a proportionate matter during the COVID-19 pandemic but will not hesitate to take action in response to deliberate and egregious non-compliance, particularly where vulnerable workers are involved. 25.01.2022 We’ve had a lot of interest in the JobKeeper Payment. Here are some answers to common questions we are seeing: Do I have to enrol for the JobKeeper Payment b...y a certain date? As long as you meet the eligibility requirements for employers, sole traders or other entities, you can enrol anytime up until the scheme closes. Can an employer choose not to participate in the JobKeeper Payment scheme? Even if an employer meets all the eligibility criteria, it’s up to them to decide if they would like to participate or not. Can an employer choose which employees they want to keep paying? No. If an employer decides to enrol for JobKeeper payments, they must identify all eligible employees. For more info, visit www.ato.gov.au/JobKeeper

03.01.2022 Keep an eye on your myGov inbox this tax time! Most people will be accessing their income statement (previously called a ‘payment summary’) through our online... services in myGov. If your myGov account is linked to our online services, we’ll let you know once your employer has made your income statement ‘tax ready’ - then, it can be used to do your tax return. Remember, many employers have until 31 July to do this. Lodge through an agent? No problem. Get in touch with them as usual they’ll have access to this info too. Find more info at www.ato.gov.au//Working-as/Accessing-your-payment-summary/
