23.01.2022 It’s finally happening! While we are SUPER excited to welcome you all back to brunch at SG, we do need just a little time to get ourselves organised... So we’ll be opening as of 2nd November. (We weren’t willing to take a gamble on things opening this week, as we’re sure you can appreciate!) We’re now taking bookings for inside tables, in 1-hour sittings, on the hour (from 8am to final sitting at 2pm). Contact us via email to reserve a table - [email protected]. Thank you everyone for your kind words This isn’t just about us and that one nasty review though: We need to show the love to all of our favourite cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs etc that help make Melbourne what it is. (Oh, and as a bonus, the nasty content of that review was removed by the person who wrote it). Transparency alert!! This here is a heartfelt plea to the good people of Melbourne (and even the not...-so-good ones): Please, please find a way to be empathetic and patient with hospitality venues, who are all trying to find their feet again after the lockdown. Today, our little cafe (like many others in Melbourne) re-opened its doors for dine-in brunch for the first time in many, many months. We were excited, we were slightly anxious... but we were also bloody tired. This has been HARD, and continues to be so. And it has taken so much darn energy to re-open that we don’t quite know how we’ll get through the week, tbh! Thankfully it was a great day today, and despite having a new menu, new staff, new set-up, new rules, AND not having done any of this for so long, it went pretty well overall! Our customers were happy to be back, and we were so happy to see them. (To our regulars, thank you, we love you all so much ). Unfortunately, today we also received one of the all-time nastiest Google reviews we’ve EVER received since we opened... and boy oh boy did it feel like a kick in the guts. Bad reviews hurt at the best of times, but you try and learn from them and move on. But this? This was one of the most ungenerous and downright hurtful responses to what was a minor delay (and for which we apologised). This stuff hurts, especially now when we’re on our knees and struggling to get back up. So please, please be patient with us, and our colleagues all across Melbourne. We’re doing our best. And if you do get good service or an excellent meal somewhere? Why not go to the trouble of leaving a positive review. We promise you will make someone’s day. See more

22.01.2022 Just a bit of last minute DIY before we open for dine-in brunch tomorrow! Seriously though? We’re feeling pretty excited! We have a refreshed menu, plus a new & improved (and significantly expanded) outdoor seating area, and the team has been working in overdrive to get everything ready. It kinda feels like when we first opened just over 3 years ago! Big thanks to Bex, Tiv, Angie, Jackson and Bishal for helping us do this. What a dream team!!

13.01.2022 Could it really be that a mere 7 months ago we had a bustling cafe?? It honestly seems like another lifetime. But, the light is at the end of the tunnel now and we cannot WAIT for it to be bustling again!!! In preparation for the coming changes we’re stopping our veggie box service; but we want to say a HUGE thank you to our customers for supporting us with that initiative (and in so many other ways). It has made all the difference to us still being here, honestly. ... We’ll keep up our selection of house-made goodies though, so don’t stop buying those pickles and ferments!
