24.01.2022 On Thursday last the Rotary Small Grants Project visited the Rotary club of Canberra Burley Griffin to present details of our project. A delicious lunch was enjoyed at the Commonwealth Club on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in our nations capital. Rotary Club president Juris Jakovics and all members made Chris Curtis feel very welcome as he outlined the purpose and operations of the project. Canberra Burley Griffin Rotary is a long term supporter of the Nusa Tenggara Association (NTA).

19.01.2022 This is the area of Indonesia where the Rotary Small Grants Project does its work. Nusa Tenggara Timor (NTT) is one of the poorest provinces in Indonesia. Seaweed farmers are usually individual families with few other sources of income.

18.01.2022 Our Rotary project operates to help farmers in Flores and West Timor. This is a problem we did not expect. "Darwin and Kupang are very close, is it possible that these crocodiles come from Darwin? says Mr. Darius, the head of the tourism department. "This is my own hypothesis." .... read on!

15.01.2022 We did it! Rotary Small Grants Indonesia has finished a record year with Small Projects valued at A$20,035 raised by Rotary clubs and individuals in Australia. Projects included Water Tanks, Household Toilets, Living Fences and High Yield Cocao plants. A total of 53 projects valued at less than A$380 each but of immense value to impoverished communities in eastern Indonesia. Rotary Small Grants provided the materials but the work was done by the wonderful people of the area who have added their labour to complete each of the projects and created enduring resources for the people. The Small Grants Project continues in 2018-19 with another round of fund raising and construction. Donations can be sent to the Rotary Club of Lane Cove (email: www.lanecoverotary.org) or by visiting Page www.facebook.com/smallgrantsindonesia.

15.01.2022 Friday 5 May the bus cannot make it up the hill ... slides backwards gathering speed ... flips and rolls three times! Miraculously the tumble treatment only causes minor injuries and the bus was back on the road the next day. Our project monitoring with NTA continued. Field work with Small Grants.

11.01.2022 Not so long ago our grandparents had close personal relationships with outdoor toilets like this! Today, the Rotary Small Grants Project Indonesia provides these facilities and other such as water tanks, school furniture and agricultural expertise to many rural communities in eastern Indonesia. The cooperative group, New Budding, from Hamlet II, Letbauan village Semau Island, is building a 15,000 litre water tank by hand with support from the #Rotary Club of Northbridge. Its cost? A$368. Not a large project, but when combined with the 13 other small projects that the Rotary club supports, it will form a significant contribution to the health and progress of local communities. There are hundreds of villages like Letbauan. They need your help now! Http://www.lanecoverotary.org

09.01.2022 The project monitoring continues on Flores, aptly named by the Portuguese. Water tanks are popular but toilet blocks wells, school furniture, libraries and librarian training are also part of the mix. Small Grants observe the work of NTA and local cooperative agency YPMF.
