19.04.2022 We’ve all seen the Bernie memes recently making the rounds, but does it violate copyright law to make your own meme using someone else's image? The answer is yes and no. It can be argued that memes are not liable because they are a parody or satire. This is true, but there are so many other factors to consider, e.g., if you make any kind of revenue out of the meme, then you could be liable. ... This is just one example the legal minefield. There is no absolute yes or no answer. So if you’re thinking about creating promotional meme, I suggest you purchase the image license and avoid any legal headaches.
