22.01.2022 ANOTHER WARNING TO ALL OWNERS! Never teach your collie to drive as they so quickly get a taste for it

22.01.2022 This is just delightful (and great info!). In this video, we get to see Radical work on recalls through a tunnel. Not only is he being set up for success, but i...sn’t he just adorable? With puppies we should always consider how we’re setting up scenarios so that their options are limited to the most brilliant ones! See more

20.01.2022 Smart Paws Announcement Due to continuing ill health, Smart Paws will not be operating as it has done since its commencement in July 2002. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all who have attended classes, requested a home visit, or phoned for advice during this time. I would also like to thank all the rescue dogs who graced us with their presence. They taught us so much. Also a big thank you to the Veterinary Surgeons who witnessed the results of our behaviour... modification and referred dogs and their owners to us. I am hopeful that a very qualified trainer and friend will take on these referrals in the future. To the regular attendees who helped so many dogs over their fears, thank you for your assistance. You are so wonderful, and I hope what you have learnt from us will continue to help future dogs and owners you come into contact with. To all current students, I am available over the phone with any problems you encounter, or training advise needed. And remember, never let anyone harm your dog in the name of 'training'. If it is not fun for you and your dog, walk away. Carmel Hodgins

03.01.2022 This dogs name was gunner my uncle brought him back from WW2 he was raised and slept under my uncles anti- aircraft gun. The gun crew shared their rations to fe...ed him. By the time he was 18 months old my uncle said he would stand up and look at the sky. If he layed back down they new all was ok. If he growled and put his hackles up they got at the ready. He new the sound of the German aircraft and my uncle said he never got it wrong. He said gunner was better than any early warning system. I’m probably the only one left in the family that knows that story now so I thought I’d tell it before it’s lost forever like many story’s must be from that time. Thanks for reading it.
