13.01.2022 Hi Clunatics I am wanting to give our local business, sole traders etc some extra business support. Contact me if you need: * help with business or employee enrolment into Jobkeeper * help with payroll setup... * provide clarity re all the ATO/Covid/Boost opportunities * questions answered As a qualified CPA and business fixer, I continue to worry about the ability of local regional business to get the right access to all the government options available. - Most accountants are a bit at sea and many are over-run. - Lots of businesses dont know what questions to ask. Don't miss out on bonus payments, jobkeeper etc. The first jobkeeper deadline is 30th April - NEXT WEEK!!! Free of charge to support everyone through this. This advice will only be general, as your accountant will know your specific financial situation - it is aimed to help other locals and businesses get what they need, and the best from their accountants. Message me with your phone number and we can schedule a chat. Many thanks and stay safe Eve

07.01.2022 ATO Extends deadline by a week - Extension of time to enrol for the JobKeeper scheme The Commissioner has extended the time to enrol for the initial JobKeeper periods, from 30 April 2020 until 31 May 2020.... If you enrol by 31 May you will still be able to claim for the fortnights in April and May, provided you meet all the eligibility requirements for each of those fortnights. This includes having paid your employees by the appropriate date for each fortnight. For the first two fortnights (30 March 12 April, 13 April 26 April), we will accept the minimum $1,500 payment for each fortnight has been paid by you even if it has been paid late, provided it is paid by 8 May 2020. If you do not pay your staff by this date, you will not be able to claim JobKeeper for the first two fortnights

03.01.2022 **NOTICE** Last week the Smart Accounting Mail Servers were attacked by a highly sophisticated group in Malaysia and an un-authorised email was sent with the subject *Scan Document* requesting "Kindly view the below document". Going even further - when peopled emailed back to check the validity they sent replies, still pretending to be me, confirming the document should be opened.... If you have not already done so, please delete this document. I have now taken back control of the Servers, and am also in the process of increasing security to prevent any further breaches. Rest assured I am always careful not to share any sensitive information such as passwords, pin numbers etc over the email, but if you have any concerns please fee free to contact me directly. Kind regards Eve Blackall
02.01.2022 NOTICE - Jobkeeper testing is once-off! You only need to satisfy the fall in turnover test once you don't need to test your turnover in the following months or quarters. So, you can make as much as you can until 30th Sept AND continue to receive all the Jobkeeper benefits. ... The ATO have recently clarified that once the initial Jobkeeper declaration was made, provided the test was made in good faith, you remain eligible; bearing in mind the test declaration may well be audited. There are ongoing monthly turnover reporting requirements, but these do not impact your eligibility https://www.ato.gov.au//JobKee/Applying-the-turnover-test/ Last modified: 05 Jun 2020

02.01.2022 TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO REGISTER FOR JOBKEEPER - here is a cheatsheet of links... Jobkeeper registration https://bp.ato.gov.au/. The rego itself can be found under Manage Employees on the left-hand menu...follow the steps..... When all that is done we need to ensure you have paid the relevant Jobkeeper amounts by the COB tomorrow 30th April See easy peasy!!!! (well sort of) If you don't currently have access to your ATO Portal these are the pre-registration steps to get you access: This is a three-step process: 1. You have to get the app on your phone that confirms your ID each time you want to log in and update your business information with the ATO This is called MyGovId and you need to download it from the apps store / playstore on your phone 2. Once you download it you need to set up MyGovId, which is a bit like setting up a new bank account. a) Firstly go dig out two of the following Australian identity documents (your name must match on both): passport (not more than three years expired) drivers license including learner's permit birth certificate Medicare card. b) Next work through the MyGovId setup process until your identity is confirmed. 3. Once we have the above MyGovId app working we can then use that to get you access to the Business Portal by linking your MYGOVID to your business: https://authorisationmanager.gov.au/ Hopefully, the ABN will come straight up if it doesnt then you need to phone the ATO 1300 line that is provided with the link that is BORING (but still quite OK - you may be on hold for a loooong time, and I can't recommend the ATO hold music choice) After these three steps you are finally ready for your Jobkeeper registration https://bp.ato.gov.au/. (see above) REMEMBER - Late next week (after the ATO do their server upgrade) we can log back into the ATO portal, using these links and your MyGovID, and claim your jobkeeper payment of $3K for April
