22.01.2022 Eveleigh Artisans Market closed suddenly with stallholders given just days notice. After being a stallholder there since its inception, over 4 years ago, this came as a complete shock to me and all of the other stallholders. In the space of just 3 hours we were able to get approx 740 customer signatures on a petition (who queued up just to sign!) and almost all of the stallholders signed an additional petition. Letters were sent to the Minister, the Hon. George Souris MP; NSW Arts; the Hon. Tanya Plebersek MP; Ms Clover Moore, Mayor for Sydney; and various other bodies. The reason given by Carriageworks management for the closure was "falling customer attendance numbers" but at the Xmas market we estimated 3,000 people! I will keep you posted on any response that I get.

07.01.2022 I was so inspired by the Opera House Exhibition at the SH Ervin Gallery recently, I came home and created this.
