04.01.2022 SNAKES As the weather warms up, so do Australia's snakes. This is a reminder for all pet owners to take precautions. ... Signs of snakebite can be subtle at first, and can progress with devastating rapidity to complete paralysis and an inability to breathe, which is the most common cause of death in dogs and cats. Additionally, snake venom may stop the blood clotting, causing internal bleeding, and with Tiger snakebites severe muscle damage also occurs. If you see your pet in close contact with a snake it is important that you take your pet to the vet immediately. Ring ahead and inform them of a potential snakebite. If you can, carry your dog to the car, as activity hastens the signs of envenomation. Do not take a wait and see approach, and don't waste time looking for the bite as it is rare to be able to find the bite in dogs and cats. If your pet has been playing with, or near, a snake and suddenly vomits, loses control of its bowels, collapses or has unusual breathing, salivating, dilated pupils, unsteady gait or weakness, and then appears to recover, it is highly likely to have received a potentially lethal bite, and will require treatment. If you can identify the snake, notify practice. However, DO NOT attempt to kill or catch live snakes (which are protected species). If your pet stops breathing en route to a veterinarian, you can give mouth to nose breathing to help keep them alive. Australia is lucky to have the best antivenine in the world and with intensive care, most dogs and cats bitten by snakes will survive and live a normal life.

03.01.2022 With the warmer weather coming so do the fleas can you help us keep the fleas at bay?? We are currently running low on Revolution for cats or frontline for dogs. If you are able to help us that would be AMAZING!! If you are unable to get us these items but would like to donate some money towards please use the reference "fleas" when making a donation.

02.01.2022 Poor Dude. Had someone coming on Friday to check him out and now they have pulled out. So, Dude is still looking for a loving home or foster home. He is a 1 & 1/2 year old male Mastiff x. This guy is big and super friendly. We tested him with our shelter cat yesterday and he couldn't be bothered (but then again the cat is crazy and wont run from a dog). Dude loves other dogs and adores people. He walks well on a lead and would love a family to adore him. His main problem would be for small children as he wags his tail so much its like a whip. Dude really hasn't put a paw wrong since being here. He is Vet checked, Temperament tested, De-sexed, Vaccinated, Micro chipped and Wormed. Please inbox if truly interested.
