24.01.2022 Attached link rebuts the comments made by Bill Morrow (NBN CEO) regarding speeds that the Australian public will need from Internet connections. https://www.facebook.com/groups/BIRRR/permalink/632572213618136/ The situation for farmers is far more dire. They run their businesses as well as their family life on these connections. It can be argued that due to remoteness that the family life demands on the Internet are far more critical than for metro customers. Their businesses are going thru an evolutionary change with Digital and precision agriculture driving a need for far more speed, reliability and storage. SmartFarmNet will meet all of these needs, be owned by farmers, and scale for the future.

03.01.2022 Great News. The Federal Minister for Communications has granted SmartFarmNet a 30 year exemption to the Telecommunications Act (sections 7 and 8) that will allow us to build our Optical Fibre network and sell directly to farmers in areas where NBN only provides Sattelite and WiFi direct services. In reaching his decision the Minister said his reasons for granting this exemption were. support higher quality and more reliable services becoming available to Australians in regi...onal locations; promote competition and choice for Australians in regional locations; and not disrupt the Government’s broader telecommunications reform processes, including deployment of the National Broadband Network (NBN), because the exempted areas will be limited in scope. Looking forward to our first rollout in Wangaratta and will keep you posted on timing and next steps.

02.01.2022 Thank You to all those who have liked our page, in particular, the Wangaratta Shire. We are discussing the network rollout with the Federal Government Department of Communications, who have been very helpful to date. We hope to have an update to you in mid-December. In the meantime, our focus is on the design of the network and engaging with local partners who are interested in supporting this network. If you are interested please visit our site at http://www.smartfarmnet.com We will also be working with Council officers on the Optical Fibre route plan. We plan to take our new services to the community early in the new year; services that are reliable and fast enough to support all that digital farming and digital family demand can foresee in the next 30 years.
