09.01.2022 Are you cooling and storing rice in a food safe way? To store cooked rice, wait until the steam stops rising, cover and refrigerate. Make sure you refrigerate cooked rice within an hour, and don’t leave in the fridge for longer than three days. #FoodSafetyWeek NSW Food Authority

08.01.2022 Here is a recipe that I have been making since I was 9 years old: Orange jelly craters All you will need is 4-6 oranges 1 tsp gelatine powder... 3/4 cup warm water 1 tsp honey Or any jelly crystals brand of your choice Squeeze the oranges, reserve the juice. Mix all the ingredients in a jug (maybe get a larger jug then I did in this video ) Pour the mixture into the oranges and set until firm preferably overnight. Enjoy the orange jelliness on a hot summers day - hopefully there are some days with warmer weather soon #whereissummer
07.01.2022 JUST THE RIGHT HEIGHT FOR TODDLERS TO REACH Every day the NSW Poisons Centre receives multiple calls from concerned parents whose toddlers have accessed the to...ilet gel disc or cage hanging in the toilet bowl. These products are often nice smelling, brightly coloured and are usually at just the right height to catch the eye of an inquisitive toddler. If you have toddlers living in or visiting your home keep your bathroom door closed & toilet lid down to reduce the chance of accidental ingestion or consider using an alternative toilet cleaner. If you suspect your child has had contact with these products always wipe out their mouth, offer a small sip of water and wash their hands & face well to remove any residue. Many of these in-bowl toilet cleaners are soapy detergents and unlikely to cause serious effects, however, some may be more harmful so always call the Poisons Centre on 131126 for further advice after any accidental exposures. #poisonsinfo #preventpoison #kidssafety See more
07.01.2022 GASTRO ALERT Increased rates of gastro are being reported in NSW child care centres this month. NSW Health have issued an alert to child care centres, the ...key points are: Gastroenteritis outbreak notifications have increased in childcare centres across NSW Alert staff to be vigilant for symptoms of gastroenteritis in children Reinforce basic hygiene measures, such as regular hand washing, to prevent the spread of infection Exclude sick children and staff for at least 48 hours after their last symptoms The two most important things you can do if your child has gastro to break the chain and stop the spread are: WASH YOUR (and everyone in your household) HANDS FREQUENTLY with soap and water! KEEP your child home for 48 hours AFTER their last vomit and/or diarrhoea (typically diarrhoea will go on for longer than the vomiting). Why? Because your child can still be shedding the virus after the symptoms stop! We get it, it can be so hard, especially if you are a working parent. But it is key to stop the spread! Remember, always seek medical advice if you are concerned about your child. 07.01.2022 Giving back is a big part of the Decorati culture - from ongoing donations to dedicating personal time to help charities close to our heart. When Smart Kids Ear...ly Learning put a call out that they were supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney for their pantry fundraiser, I immediately got in contact with Sharon to see how Decorati could assist. With a trip down to my local Woolworths I purchased some supplies that the Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney families needed. Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney provides a home away from home for families with a seriously ill or injured child. When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness or injury, it can be a traumatic time in a family’s life. Keeping families together through such times is at the heart of what they do. I cannot imagine what it must feel like to have a child seriously injured or ill. So by helping out, I know I’ve made a difference. Carla @ Green Valley, New South Wales, Australia
