14.01.2022 This is an important warning for anyone that has a bank account. We have seen a dramatic increase in fraudulent emails that are being sent by criminals posing as major banks. Often these emails appear legitimate. They even use bank logos and email addresses that incorporate the bank's name. ... The aim of the game for these perpetrators is to capture your details. Once these criminals know your details they can potentially gain more specific information about your banking and passwords. When you receive one of these emails the following suggestions should sufficiently protect your details: 1. You should never open an email from a major bank that has not come directly from someone that you know. 2. If you receive an email from a Bank (that is not someone you know) mark it as spam and delete the email without opening it. 3. Once you have deleted this email you should then go one step further and delete the email from your trash folder. 4. Do not click any links within these emails. 5. Avoid forwarding these emails to anyone else. It is just a matter of time before you receive one of these communications so we hope this information keeps you protected.

13.01.2022 Our Federal Government has just passed legislation that gives them the power to take your money from your bank account if you have not used it for 3 years. Yes, you did read this correctly. From the 31st of May this year, the Federal Government will have the power to transfer your bank balance to their coffers.... The definition of "using" a bank account involves either withdrawing or depositing. Note: Interest payments are not considered to be deposits and fees are not considered withdrawals under this legislation. What to do NOW? 1. Check all of your bank accounts and make sure you have transacted over the last 3 years. If you haven't used your account during this time, make a withdrawal or deposit. Otherwise you will lose it. 2. If you cannot remember where a long lost account may reside, use this ASIC tool to conduct a search https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/tools-an/find-unclaimed-money If, for some reason, your money is taken by the Government under this law, you will be able to apply to ASIC to have it returned. However, this in not likely to be a quick process. I hope this message saves your money.

10.01.2022 Enter for a chance to win up to $5,000. Pass this notice to all your friends with a mortgage as you do not have to be a Smartline client to enter. Everyone with a mortgage is welcome to enter. The good news is, it’s easy to enter. All you need is an idea of what you’d splash out on, and a mortgage*. It can be a Smartline mortgage, or a mortgage from another provider.

06.01.2022 7 May 2013 Good Afternoon Clients The RBA announced this afternoon they have reduced official interest rates by 0.25%. ... We expect that lenders will announce their response over the coming days, hopefully with most or all passing on the full reduction. If you have any questions regarding this announcement and how it impacts on your circumstances, please contact me, I'm happy to discuss. 04.01.2022 Pen or PIN? Soon you won’t have a choice. We thought you might appreciate a warning given there has not been a lot of publicity around this change. The days of signing your name to pay for something on your credit card are coming to an end. Signature based verification is being phased out in Australia on the 1st of August this year. ... If you want to avoid being stuck in the Coles queue with a trolley full of groceries that you can’t pay for, we suggest you make sure a PIN is assigned to your card. Whilst using a PIN is faster and more convenient, the main driver behind this initiative is better credit card security, with the rate of signature based card fraud in Australia having risen by 50% over the last 2 years. Several countries have already moved to the PIN only system, so this also makes it easier to use your cards when travelling. The process varies from bank to bank, but can take up to 10 days, so if you need to have a PIN reissued make sure you contact your bank asap in anticipation of the August 1 deadline.
