24.01.2022 Bird boxes finally finished after several coats of solar guard paint. Three are already at their new homes, so we only have two left. These boxes are specifically for Eastern Rosellas. One is made from 18mm form ply with three coats of paint. It is available at $80 and is suitable for any location. The second is made from 12mm ply with and would require a reasonably sheltered area. This one is only $60.

23.01.2022 Made a letterbox for an old fart today. I won’t mention any names but it was his birthday yesterday. Now he has the perfect receptacle for all those cards. #happybirthday #oldmate

18.01.2022 Nesting boxes for Rosellas coming along nicely. Used to make a lot of these a few years ago. All ready for painting tomorrow and the addition of the mounting board. Might do some Pardalote boxes next. #birds #birdsofinstagram #birdsnest #rosella #easternrosella #nestingbox #wood #woodworking

17.01.2022 Bird feeders finished and organised with chain and hooks. Hooks are open at one end so they can be easily placed over any branch. Chain is 300mm long. These have been oiled twice to protect against weather. Now you can attract more birds to your garden with a bit of feed. These feeders are 200mm square but larger ones can be made by order. We have 3 of these ones available at $40 each.

16.01.2022 Good haul today of pallets and so glad I took the trailer for a trip. Should have enough to do the dado boards on the new wall in my shed. Standby for the results in a few days...

15.01.2022 Happy World Bee Day to everyone. There was a great story on ABC Breakfast show this morning about bees. We were particularly interested in the bit about our native bees that we are actively encouraging in our backyard with our "Bee B 'n B". We already have a number of residents so are quite thrilled with how it is going so far.

14.01.2022 Made some bird feeders today in the style previously shown on here that people seemed to like. They are approximately 200mm square at the base with 150mm high posts to support the roof. Larger ones to suit Eastern Rosellas and Red Rumped Parrots can be built to order. The floor has sides so seed and feed won't spill out. Ideal for Blue Wrens (they love Parmesan Cheese), Yellow rumped thornbills (Butterbums), which eat insects but will eat seeds. Currently being oiled and will then put a chain on the roof so they will hang from a tree.

10.01.2022 While Ric is still busy in the shed building the shelves on the back of the wall, Jude has been very busy in the studio. She has completed a planter and another ball for her exhibition in October.

09.01.2022 Our next wood project will be an extension of the recent nesting boxes for Rosellas. Looking at building some bird feeders. What are your thoughts? How big do you think they should be? https://www.pinterest.com.au/smashingmosaics/birds/

07.01.2022 Just a little story on how the woodwork began if you're interested. https://smashingmosaics.com.au///26-how-the-woodwork-began

06.01.2022 A few exciting projects have reached their conclusion. Jude has finished the mosaics in two large planters. Photos will be coming a soon as the plants are in them. Ric has also finally finished his shed wall and all the shelving. This has provided an enormous amount of additional custom made storage space and separated the man cave from the rest of the shed. There's an article on shed shelving on our website now at https://smashingmosaics.com.au//wood-/23-shelving-the-shed

04.01.2022 Major project at present is building a partition in the shed. Apart from separating the "man cave" from the shed area, it will provide valuable shelving on the back of the wall for smaller items. This will free up a fair bit of the larger shelving in the shed.

02.01.2022 The spring collection of pot plant mini bee house decorative stands has been released. Five different colours.
