19.01.2022 What is the SMBI CLT? The SMBI CLT Ltd is a Community Land Trust, which is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to steward property on the SMBI (Southern Moreton Bay Islands). This ensures that the Islands retain perpetually affordable housing, as property values inevitably rise. This aim is achieved by properties being permanently removed from the property market and secured by the CLT (Community Land Trust). The properties are made available for ownership or rent...al to low to moderate income households, providing secure tenure, housing stability, and reducing housing stress. The attached image shows the proportion of renters in housing stress on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. These households may find relief in owning or renting a CLT property. If you are a household in housing stress, please contact us to find out how you may be able to qualify to get into your own CLT home on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.

18.01.2022 A CLT (Community Land Trust) is now in the start-up phase on the SMBI (Southern Moreton Bay Islands - Brisbane). We will be starting a fund raising campaign soon so that we can make a big difference to the SMBI community. Following the success of this step, we will begin construction of housing for resident members.. 09.01.2022 A great turnout to the Russell Island 11am ANZAC service. Well done to the organisers, the service contributors and the community for their strong support. We would like to thank the service men and women who have fought for the freedoms that we enjoy in Australia and New Zealand. Their sacrifice encourages us to continue to uphold the values of Courage, Initiative, Respect and Teamwork. Lest we forget.

08.01.2022 Last week, director Andrew Paul was presenting at Bellingen, NSW on the benefits of Community Land Trusts. Bellingen is a lovely tree-change town with many similarities to our SMBI community.

It is really tough for a lot of people who are renters, and those who would like to get into their own properties but find it too difficult to save a deposit.
