25.01.2022 Congratulations to the following Year 12 students who have finalised their course study and have been awarded a Certificate III Fitness, Certificate II Sport and Recreation, Community Coaching General Principles Certificate, First Aid and CPR. These students have worked incredibly hard over the past two years, completing theoretical components, delivering fitness sessions to SGM students and staff members, and participating in developmental courses for HIIT training and funct...ional training to prepare them for industry practice. 16.01.2022 Congratulations to Bree Pendrigh, year 8, who is shining on the hockey field. Bree had an amazing first experience at the Under 19 Hockey tournament this week. She was the youngest in the peninsula team and fortunate to be involved in the team who finished in a well-deserved 4th position. The girls played 7 games over 4 days with 1 draw, 3 loses and 2 wins . This is the best result for Peninsula hockey in a few years!... Fantastic experience for Bree who is passionate about Hockey and demonstrates great determination to achieve her goals. Well done, Bree!

14.01.2022 The inaugural St Mary's 7s Rugby League Gala Day was designed to provide opportunities for students to re-engage in Rugby League after the initial Covid19 onslaught took so many away. On Thursday the 17th of September, St Mary's welcomed 430 male and female students in 30 various teams from 14 different schools onto our college oval to celebrate coming together as a community to battle it out on the field once again. A total of 65 games were played with tremendous competitiv...e spirit, and some unique rule changes allowed for extremely exciting and gripping viewing by all! Congratulations to all students and staff involved on a truly fantastic day! 13.01.2022 Why not drop into the Tanks over the holidays and enjoy the ambience while seeing the artworks up close? The Tanks is open 7 days a week (thanks to volunteer staff who open up the Tank on Saturdays and Sundays) and we strongly encourage students to see the works for themselves. The works bump out on 6 October (first Tuesday back in Term 4).

07.01.2022 Year 9 students participated in an Amazing Race across Earl Hill finishing at Half Moon Bay on Tuesday. All students had to be connected across the course by a piece of rope and complete a series of challenges as a team before reaching the finishing line. After the race, students enjoyed a lunch along the Trinity Beach Esplanade cooked by the College Leadership Team, and a swim in the ocean to conclude the day. A great day had by all involved! 03.01.2022 Our final assembly for Term 3 was also an opportunity for our senior leaders to present their last portfolio reports. They have had a wonderful year despite the challenges and the College is proud of all they have achieved. We took the opportunity to recognise Mr Noel Logan for 30 Years of Service, and Mrs Andrea O'Grady and Mrs Helena Tutoe for their Docemus Awards. We thank these three dedicated staff members for their outstanding contributions to St Mary's. We are also pro...ud of the outstanding students who received Principal's certificates. 02.01.2022 Charlotte Jonsen and Cecily Okena competed in the 13/U Cairns Pythons representative team at the Nissan State Age Championships during the holidays. The girls played very well and represented their home city with pride over 4 days of competition. They finished up 2nd in their finals pool, which gave them a ranking of 10th overall for their age group in the Challenge Cup. Well done girls!

02.01.2022 ENERGY 2020 Congratulations to Yesha Lee, on her winning entry into ENERGY 2020! Yesha's artwork, Colours in the Community, embraces the essence of lifestyles, capturing how they are unique for everyone. Certain locations can often connect us together, yet this idea unveils how sometimes our lifestyles may be similar to one another, but never the same. Each painting portrays candid scenes of people within the Cairns community. ... ENERGY is an annual student exhibition that allows young artists to share their creative energy and insights. Bursting with innovative, high-quality works that will engage and inspire you. Visual art is produced by school students across the region. This is a wonderful achievement. Well done, Yesha!
