24.01.2022 Ahoy mateys have a look at the Year 10 Visual Art installation project from Term 3! The students battened down the hatches with some project-based learning that challenged their problem solving and critical thinking skills, while also giving them an opportunity to learn to communicate and negotiate as a functional team. It is made out of completely repurposed materials, as the group had to be resourceful, just like people who dont have material wealth. What an amazing ship-shape piece!

12.01.2022 Pictures really are worth a thousand words. Just ask aspiring artist, Nandhini Ramanathan (Year 9), who uses visual art as a way of expressing her thoughts, feelings and ideas. I feel that art is a part of my identity...When I create art, I feel like it clears my head. It helps me make sense of my emotions. And somehow it makes me feel calmer and more relaxed. You can read the full interview with Nandhini in the latest edition of The Fountain here, newsletters.naavi.com/i/v5zn2K5

06.01.2022 What a treat to visit the Hobart Town Tea Co. Year 9 and 10 Chinese students were recently treated to a Chinese afternoon tea experience where they learned about the rich history and culture of tea drinking in China from Lili Sun-Christie, who taught at St Marys College in 2019. The group then enjoyed high tea, ordering their food and tea in Chinese, and chose and named their own delicious blends, which were individually labelled and packaged for the students to take home. What a nice way to enjoy a unique and beautiful cup of tea!
