25.01.2022 R U OK Day // a conversation that could change a life Today we are raising awareness around this important initiative and encouraging the girls talk to their friends, look out for any signs and take action.

25.01.2022 What’s been on today’s agenda? 24 Gifted & Talented students spent today rotating through challenges against other schools in NSW in Humanities, the Sciences and Mathematics as part of the Quest academic online competition. Quest ignites passions, strengthens focus and challenges boundaries, helping gifted students gain a greater understanding of their ability. #learningisfunatstella #somethingforeveryoneatstella #startyourstellastory #neveradullmoment

25.01.2022 OCTOBER MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH // As we come to the end of October Mental Health Awareness Month we have given the girls one last challenge... can they add 5 minutes of meditation into their daily lives? 5-minutes of mindfulness meditation has been found to increase one’s immunity, wellbeing and ability to handle stress. Just a few minutes each day to produce all those good-feeling benefits whilst creating a healthy body and mind (see this Youtube clip for a simple exp...lanation on the scientific power of meditation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw71zanwMnY). We encourage them to download the free 'Smiling Mind' app. where they will find simple guided meditation exercises or visit smilingmind.com.au and make a point of fitting this into their day and reap the rewards to their mind and body.

23.01.2022 Our very special Year 12 graduates were treated to a ‘Ladies Lunch’ today after having all of the usual Year 12 celebrations restricted by Covid19. They were warmly greeted by the Year 7 girls and then treated to a delicious lunch and afternoon of fun.

20.01.2022 WORLD TEACHERS' DAY // Most of us had at least one teacher that we remember for helping us become the person we are today. It's been a challenging year and our wonderful Stella teachers have met the challenge every step of the way. As always, our girls say it best. Here are some quotes from them that touch on the special and often long lasting relationship between student and teacher #teachersday #thankteachers #brightfuture "My teachers not only help me academically but teac...h me important life lessons and help me become a better person." "They have supported me through all my struggles, helped me become the best version of myself, set me up for a greater future, and they make my day." "I always know I can go to any teacher for advice." "They are someone I want to wave to in the hallway." "They have helped me learn and grow.....and they give me lollies sometimes :)"

20.01.2022 Our Year 7 girls (only - due to Covid restrictions) eagerly waiting to welcome the Year 12 girls into the gate for the ‘Ladies Lunch’

14.01.2022 CIRCLE OF SOLIDARITY // Our Year 10 girls are standing in silence and solidarity to support refugees and people seeking asylum (many who are children of the same age) who have been severely affected by Covid19 as the government gives them little support. The Jesuit Refugee Service 'JRS' Australia and Vinnies NSW have partnered up to provide lifesaving support in the way of non-perishable food, toiletries and financial donations and your help is desperately needed and would b...e appreciated. We have asked the students if their families can donate some of the items listed in the picture below and bring them to school before the end of term. If you are in a position to help, we ask that you pop some of these items on your shopping list this week and send them in with the students this week or next. #nochildleftbehind #somethingforeveryoneatStella #2020YearofCommunity #makingadifference #learningisfunatStella

08.01.2022 Our staff members joined in Love Your Body Week today, dressing in something that says: ‘this is the ME you DON’T see’, to generate conversations with the girls around why we are ALL so much more than just our appearance. The girls finished the week wearing their favourite colours. They've certainly had a lot to challenge them every day this week. Here are our self-described beekeeper, birdbrain and babe - but not necessarily in that order

07.01.2022 STELLA GIRLS IN THE SPOTLIGHT // Four of our Year 11 girls had their moment in the spotlight today when they represented Stella on the TODAY show in an entertaining and fun car tyre challenge with Allison and Karl. So proud of our girls who spoke beautifully in front of the camera and did a great job assisting with the tyre change . After their session with Galmatic last week, no doubt the girls on Team Karl were tempted to nudge him aside and take over Watch the video below: https://9now.nine.com.au//e72e1382-d481-4154-a372-2f382857 ##strongwomen #independentwomen #moveoverKarl #essentiallifeskills #startyourstellastory #learningisfunatstella #makingadifference

05.01.2022 BOW (Bodies of Work) Exhibition // a sneak peak of just a few of the major works from our talented Year 12 Textiles, Design and Technology, Media Arts and Visual Arts students. Covid19 has put a stop to us inviting the wider community to see the exhibition this year, however all works have been displayed in the Old Library for marking and the students to appreciate. We can't show the full view until they have been sent off for marking but once that has happened we will be sure to post them here for all to see.

04.01.2022 A beautiful post and thank you, from our friends at Mater Dei School, Camden. We too have very much missed connecting this year and glad the letters from our Year 10 girls were well received.

04.01.2022 Our hearts are full! Stella Maris College, Manly celebrated their 'Stella Day' on Friday and Year 10 wrote letters to our Mater Dei students and community. We u...sually see the Stella girls on occasions such as our St Benedict's Day. This year we have dearly missed these opportunities to connect. "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." (Mother Teresa). From the bottom of our hearts: thank you, our dear friends, for reaching out despite the distance and circumstances! We hope we can see you all soon. Visit our website to read the full letters. 03.01.2022 iSTEM is a new course for 2020 Year 10 integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This very hands-on course allows girls to investigate various phenomena and has garnered a great deal of interest for 2021 thanks to Mr Latham’s innovative course delivery. This term the focus was on aerodynamics. The girls built a wind tunnel and tested the drag and lift of various wing shapes.
