07.01.2022 South Melbourne District Football Club expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Barry Elmer who passed away overnight Sunday. Barry joined South Melbourne as a young player in 1969, and was one of the most tireless and formative contributors to the club throughout its history. Barry is a Life Member, Hall of Fame Member, and was Assistant Secretary and Vice President before ultimately becoming the fourth President of South Melbourne District Football Club from 1989...-1997. Barry was integral in creating the family based club we all love. This included transitioning our clubrooms from a two-roomed ghetto where MSAC now stands, into the Clarke Shields Pavilion that we still enjoy today. We will always be thankful for Barrys contributions to South Melbourne. Barry is survived by his wife Lynette and their extended family. Our thoughts are with them all.

These are uncertain times and we all need to do what makes us feel safe. Chat to your team mates and reach out to our coaches or leadership group at any time for anything, no matter how great or small. Were all in this together x || #smdfc #smdfcwomen
