25.01.2022 #OnThisDay in 2002 we defeated Sydney Olympic FC 6-4 in an all-time classic regular season match in front of a big crowd at Bob Jane Stadium. Michael Baird and Vaughan Coveny each scored a brace, while Peter Buljan and Steve Panopoulos also found the back of the net.

20.01.2022 Our Youth Program continues to take shape, with UEFA A licensed Vladimir Kostadinovski appointed as Coach of our Under 16 team. Vladimir has a wealth of experience as a player and coach in Europe, having played numerous seasons in the Serbian Premier League, as well as the Victorian Premier League when arriving in Australia. He has also coached at various youth levels both here and abroad, including most recently at Heidelberg United. SMFC Technical Director Sinisa Cohadzic w...elcomed Vladimir to the club. "We are delighted to be able to appoint Vladimir to the Under 16 role in line with the club's youth blueprint. With a strong background in European football and experience in nurturing youth footballers, we believe that this will assist in the development of our own youth footballers". 14.01.2022 Congratulations to senior team midfielder Daniel Clark for being part of the Peninsula Power NPL Premiership winning team in Queensland. With no football in Victoria over the past 8 months, Clarky is on loan in Queensland for the 2020 season and has been a key member of their success this season. Congrats Clarky!

14.01.2022 SMFC is pleased to announce that Nadal Di Rossi will be the Head Coach of our Under 15 side in our revamped junior program in 2021. Nadal joins us having a wealth of experience overseas in developing you footballers, as well as a B License accreditation. SMFC Technical Director Sinisa Cohadzic was welcoming of our new coach. "We would like to welcome Nadal to our coaching setup for the upcoming season. Having played professionally in Egypt, as well as previously working with young footballers we are excited that he will bring a new dimension to the role as we look to develop the next crop of South juniors".

08.01.2022 We've celebrated a few more birthdays over the past 24 hours. Happy Birthday to Senior Women's Player Kat Goff for yesterday. Kat's currently playing in Gold Coast before looking to head back to Melbourne for the 2021 season with South. We would also like to wish SMFC Powerchair Coach Rebecca Gulle a Happy Birthday for today. Over the past few months, Rebecca has been one of the selfless health care nurses working through the Covid-19 pandemic to help the Victorian community. We thank you so much for your efforts!

07.01.2022 SMFC would like to extend its condolences to the family and friends of Christos Kapaklis, following his recent passing. Christos was a long term member and fanatical supporter of our club, often seen at all matches including pre-season friendlies and away matches. It was not only at the games that he would express his love for the club, rather proudly wearing his South baseball cap wherever he went. His love of the game would also see him at Malvern City Football Club each S...aturday afternoon. He will be missed around the club and at many football grounds in Melbourne. May he rest in peace.
