25.01.2022 UPDATE from Smileologie: In response to recent changes that affect the dental industry the team at Smileologie would like to take this opportunity to provide updated information regarding our current situation as a result of COVID-19. Following recommendations by the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) Smileologie has been limited to providing urgent and emergency dental treatment. Last week these recommendations ch...anged! In response to advice from the AHPPC and ADA, and in the best interests of our patients, staff and families we are able to ease some restrictions limiting our clinical care. This now allows us to perform a wider range of clinical procedures. We will continue to offer emergency appointments. If you are unfortunate to experience a dental emergency please call to discuss your options. The next several weeks will continue to be unpredictable. These restrictions on practice will eventually be lifted. Relieving restrictions is a sign that things are heading in the right direction If you already have an appointment we will be in contact with you if there is a reason it needs to be changed. Under current restrictions, we are unable to scale (clean) teeth in the same manner in which you would be familiar. To avoid compromise, Dr George has requested that we delay routine cleaning until restrictions permit. We kindly ask for your patience as we prepare to open our appointment books up again in the near future for business as usual. Thank you for your understanding that these infection control precautions are to help protect the most vulnerable in our community. In addition, we have c...ontinued to operate in a limited capacity by implementing additional layers of precaution as recommended by the Australian Dental Association (ADA), Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), World Health Organisation (WHO) and Chief Medical Officers (CMO) in response to COVID-19. As of 26 March 2020, the recommendations have changed. In response to the risk assessment completed by the ADA, advice from the AHPPC and in the best interests of our patients, staff and families we are suspending our clinical care. We do however have limited provisions in place for emergencies. If you are unfortunate to experience a dental emergency please call to discuss your options. However, this one was close to home with Dr George's son having an accident in the bath tonight Yep, the dentist's kid has a broken tooth! Dental emergencies are always a bit of a shock to everyone involved its good to always have a bit of a plan of what to do if this happen...s, so here are Dr George's top tips of what to do in a dental emergency: 1. Lost, displaced or broken teeth with exposed nerves (pink/red is visible) are the ones that require urgent attention. Little chips and knocks can wait. 2. Lost teeth should NOT be rinsed with tap water. They should be placed in saline or milk and taken straight to the dentist. 3. More severe head trauma should be attended to first at a hospital before seeing a dentist. If you are unsure about the urgency of the trauma please don't hesitate to contact us @smileologiedentistry . As for this little guy, the fragment was found, he got lots of cuddles, some pain relief and ice (and an ice block treat). He'll be in for a review tomorrow and subsequent reviews thereafter.
