10.01.2022 This month, I'm taking part in the Big Walk for Little Kids and walking 500km for kids facing cancer. Every dollar raised will support Camp Quality's services and programs to help children who are dealing with their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of someone they love. Today, I'm asking you to please support my 500km walk to give kids facing cancer the chance to be kids again.... 05.01.2022 "She started showing her sister photos on her phone. Less than a minute later, she looked up, and couldn't see her 4 year old" Know this fact: It only takes 30 ...seconds for a child to drown. Fatima* contacted us last summer, after her 4 year old daughter had a drowning incident. Fatima and her kids were at a big family celebration, with both kids and adults in the pool. Fatima told us that she was right next to the pool watching the kids swim (with lots of other adults around), and started showing her sister some photos on her phone. Less than a minute later she looked up, and couldn't see her 4 year old. Fatima started to scream - sheer panic set in. Fatima's daughter was only metres away, at the bottom of the pool. She was quickly pulled out, luckily conscious and coughing. It could have been a very different ending. Fatima contacted us to tell her story, because she wants all parents to know how quickly an incident can happen, and she never imagined that just showing a few photos is enough time to lose sight of your child and a drowning accident to happen. Thank you Fatima. Just being near your child while they are in or near water is not enough. This is not active supervision. Put down the phone and keep them in your sight. And PLEASE - know what to do if the unthinkable does happen. It is imperative you know what to do if the unthinkable does happen- don’t put it off any longer. Book into a baby & child CPR and first aid class today with your family. *name changed for privacy #water #drowningprevention #dad #toddler #watersafety #swimlessons #drowning #summer #pool #swimming #safetytips #safekids #swim #pooltime #keepwatch #baby #kids #motherhood #parenting #family #toddlerlife #children #newborn #mumlife #childhood #babylove #father #parenting #dadlife #parents
