25.01.2022 Today our children took part in an interactive story with puppets and fresh produce. The Very Hungry Caterpillar. As the puppet show ended the children took turns in creating their own stories with the props and created their own caterpillars using beads, fresh leaves and their own fine motor skills.

22.01.2022 A big Thankyou to all our Kinder Room families for attending the graduation over the last 3 days! 2020 has been such a hard year and we are very grateful that we were able to create something special for our beautiful kinder children. 21.01.2022 The Kinder Children at Smiling Children have been so very busy the past few weeks. It all started with some amazing paintings that were put on display at our local cafe Tancks Corner. While there the children noticed all the yummy and delicious looking treats and asked if they could have some. This sparked a discussion about how they ‘needed money’ and how they ‘could make money’. After some more brainstorm the group came up with selling things..... So we planned MARKET WE...EK; with handmade scrunches, hats, art, cakes, slices, pizzas, milkshakes and more Market week was an absolute hit, our hard-working Kinder group made over $500 in just one week. To all the educators and families who participated and purchased one or several things throughout the week, you have aided in helping our children further develop their sense of accomplishment, teamwork, pride and purpose. A special thank-you to Tanck's Corner for supporting the Kinder Children’s community involvement throughout this project. The children will be popping back into the cafe this week to purchase themselves something special.

15.01.2022 As part of our celebrations for NAIDOC week, the Kinder’s worked on this collaborative art piece. Each child worked on their own piece. Once it was all finished, we collated it together and discovered it made a map of Australia. To do these colourings they used crayons, pencils, pastels and watercolour pencils. The pastels and water colour pencils were a new art medium for the children and they all enjoyed exploring how these both worked. ... What a wonderful sense of achievement and accomplishment we all felt.

12.01.2022 Dear Families, This year has been exhausting for all, to say the least. Its been filled with ups and downs and trying times for everyone, parents, children, and staff inclusive. As a service, we would like to take the time to officially say Thank You. Thank you for wearing your masks and staying out of the children’s classroom’s when dropping off and picking up. Thank you for staying home and reducing your movements around the community and doing your best to reduce/sto...p the spread of COVID Thank you to those who have sent appreciative emails with such kind and lovely words. Thank you We would like to inform you all that due to the Stage 4 restrictions, we have made changes to our staffing. This too will ensure our educators are limiting their movement and exposure in our community. So together we can all proudly say that we have all done our absolute best to help stop the spread and can all be reunited back together as soon as possible. It also means, that your child’s favourite educator may not be rostered on the day/s your child attends. But please know that we have shared all important information about each child with our entire team, to ensure the best quality care is provided each and every day. We acknowledge that for those of you who are working from home at the moment, we know it’s going to be difficult and trying at times. We want to remind you all, that we are only a phone call away. Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us if needed. You can also keep in touch with us all via the OWNA app. In return our educators will be reaching out to the children through the app as well, because let’s face it were going to miss them like crazy. As you are all aware there are some significant fines for false or misleading ‘permitted worker permits’ with penalties up to $19,826.40 for individuals and $99,132.00 for businesses. With this in mind we hope that you all ensure that you are only accessing our services for emergency care only, as a permitted worker, because your child/ children cannot otherwise be cared for during work hours by the another responsible adult in the household. Please take care of yourselves, mentally and physically, be kind to yourself and to those around you. You are parenting through a pandemic and we applaud you all. It’s not goodbye forever- just for now, see you all as soon as possible. The Smiling Children ELC Family

If you don't have either of those, the experts say a scarf or bandana is still better than nothing. And remember: face coverings are in addition to washing your hands, staying home, and keeping 1.5m from other people when you're in a public place not instead of.
