19.01.2022 Very humbled to spend some time with this man today, 91 years of age. Hadn’t touched his tools for 15 years until I rang and wanted some tips. I did not expect him to hold any tools and made it clear I would do the work if he could just watch and critique my hand, but he wasn’t having it my way There’s something very still and peaceful when watching a master work. Free hand lettering and cutting metal curves all on a 4 x 7mm silver work space! ~ Bill was an apprentice eng...raver at the age of 16 with my dad, and on his journey he spent a few years in London engraving on the Royal Family gifts and also Laurence Olivier’s wedding ring. Great stories are great stories, but nothing beats seeing the glimmer in an old eye as traditional craft skills are handed down and the knowing that he’s still got it!
