15.01.2022 2020 you sure have been like a kick in the teeth. Like many of you, we haven’t really known what to say on here lately. First the Currowan South Coast fires, now COVID-19. . . We’ve been practicing social distancing to protect our family. We’ve been organising groceries for those who can’t (or shouldn’t). And while we’ve seen an ugly side of humanity lately, we’ve also seen the best. Our own community looking after one another. . . Professionally speaking - we’ve been busy w...orking with our clients helping them navigate their weddings and events, and supporting catering cancellations with refunds. . . We’re watching as our industry, who cant work from home - either closes businesses or shifts strategy to survive - operating takeaway, delivery or wholesale food opportunities to their customers. . . And that’s what we’re doing - changing direction. It began for us following the difficult decision to close our restaurant on the eve of the new year. What we found on the other side, was a network of wonderful new people - looking for new ideas, direction and support. Now more than ever it feels like the right time to work together. A new chapter kicks off soon. . . ..... But for now, back to trolling the internet for cute puppy memes for distraction and a smile. Stay safe. Sarah and Andrew. See more
10.01.2022 It's time. We bid farewell to Silos Restaurant in Berry- the place that captured a piece of our hearts three years ago today. Due to circumstances out of our control, we shut the doors of Silos earlier this week and will relocate December 31. . . Our debut as restauranteurs has been the most rewarding / exilerating / challenging / exhausting project we've ever embarked on. .... . We're so proud of our little restaurant. Owning your own business is tough. Hospitality is really tough. . . Owning Silos afforded us the great fortune to cook for friends and strangers. For locals and internationals. What a remarkable gift it is when you share the food you love, and look up to full services and bums on seats. . . Thank you to all our customers for returning again and again to join us on the verandah. It's a view we will miss! And to our wedding and event clients who made our second catering business a success - we have the fondest of memories working with you. We still have more to come. . . Watching our business grow saw many staff pass through our doors. Passionate, hard working and talented young people. Thank you for all you shared and taught us too. . . Like with any venture, there are so many factors competiting for your energy behind the scenes. And so there is still much more to do - Silos has been the first step. A huge thank you to our family and friends for believing in us and to all the local businesses and mentors for their support over the years. . . And so as we come to a New Year we start a fresh chapter. We're looking forward to new, positive partnerships and special things await! . . But for now this iconic beauty is taking a well earned rest, as is our team. And our brand new family is looking forward to some time being just that. . . Thank you for everything. 05.01.2022 This is a photo taken of our home village on the early afternoon of NYE. Due to the hardworking RFS we are still safe, but Saturday is looking grim and we’re again on watch and wait mode with the fires. To all our clients thank you for your patience we may be a little delayed on emails until things settle. To our staff, friends and business partners who are still stranded, we are thinking of you. To our family who lost their home this week, sending you our love, we are so grateful you are okay. The traffic is now banked up on the South Coast as roads open to let visitors leave.
