08.01.2022 Well there is still a bit of work to be ready to go for the last meeting of the season. Will be all go putting the engine back in after work tomorrow. Providing everything goes well Luke will get in the drivers seat again and give Robbie's car a shakedown in preparation for the Armstrong Cup in Pithara the following weekend. I thank Pete for trusting me with driving a car again and can't wait to have another spin!!!
07.01.2022 Things have been a little quiet at SRT over the past few weeks. We had another feature win last time out at Geraldton City Speedway which was a great result for the whole team to back up after Old Boy's, but unfortunately it does appear that we have hurt the motor in the #67 car. We currently have it in the capable hands of our engine builder who is rebuilding it with the hope of getting back on track for the Armstrong Cup at Pithara in April. In the meantime car owner Pete ...has decided it is time to pull out the #21 car and run the Midwest Championships at Easter. At this stage it will be leased by Mick Hanlon for the Saturday night. We welcome Mick to SRT and hope he enjoys the opportunity to give the car a run. For the second night long serving crew member Luke Desmond will take to the wheel to experience what it is like to be in the drivers seat and not on the spanners. He is extremely excited and thankful to Pete for the opportunity to race the car. It is great to give a couple of new guys the chance to experience sprintcar racing and be apart of SRT. 06.01.2022 Ok SRT fans we are pretty much done and ready for this weekend. Car hit the ground for the first time yesterday. Just a couple of small things to do on the new #67 car and some new stickers and it's ready to race. Mark will be up during the week and mount his seat and check over his car. Then put the last few sticker on and bring on the Stephens Memorial. Hopefully we can get a good result to make all the hard work worthwhile.
06.01.2022 What a great night at the speedway. Mike did an awesome job for his first drive back in a sprintcar, grew in confidence, kept out of trouble and got quicker and quicker as the night went on. Well done mate!! Was great to see that big smile on your face happy to have you part of SRT. Luke's turn to get behind the wheel tonight. He is looking forward to get in and do some laps tonight. He can't wait.
06.01.2022 It is with heavy hearts that SRT will be back at Geraldton City Speedway tomorrow night. After an emotional win by Robbie at the last Stephens Memorial race to be held and Wellsy making it a 1 - 2 for SRT coming home 2nd after starting 13th with an awesome drive through the field, we got the devastating news that one of our dedicated pit crew members Pit Crew Pete's partner passed away. Condolences to Pete and all the family. You know you have lots of friends to help you thro...ugh this tough time especially your speedway family. So we will go "Racing For Donna" tomorrow night and i have no doubt Pete will have our car shiny and clean as he always does and he loves it. You are a real asset to out team! So with a slight issue with lack of power at the last meeting Steve has gone over the engine and tweaked it up to make sure everything is on song for tomorrow. With just a couple of maintenance jobs to do we will be ready to load up. I have to say it has been far less busy the past 3 weeks not having to build a new car. Don't be shy and come on down to the pits at interval and say hi to the team and we all look forward to a great nights racing. See more
06.01.2022 Busy evening. We have the bulk of the new car together. Now just lots of small things on the list for tomorrow and we should be close to having the new #67 Eagle ready to go for next weekend. It is all coming together nicely. Thanks to all the crew and especially car owner Pete Smith for making this all possible.
05.01.2022 The next meeting for SRT. It's gonna be huge!
04.01.2022 Today's the day everyone. The biggest race of the season for SRT. The biggest race of the year for Robbie and all the Stephens family. Also having one of the biggest names in Australian speedway driving Pete's 2nd car in Mark Wells. And to top it all off the biggest field of cars for a John Stephens Memorial. In fact probably the biggest field of sprintcars ever in one division at Geraldton City Speedway in 29 cars. To say we are all excited is an understatement. It has been ...a busy few weeks and a great effort from the whole crew to get both the cars out there so hopefully we can get through the night in 1 piece and bring the cars home straight. We will give it our best shot and let's see how we end up. Good luck to all the other competitors and may the best (or luckiest) man win! don't forget everyone to come down to the pits at interval and say hi and have a closer look at the cars. Make sure you get a poster signed by Robbie and Mark for the kids whilst your there. See more
01.01.2022 We are getting ever closer to having the cars race ready for Saturday night. Had a busy day getting the #21 car good to go for Wellsy, and finishing off a few things on Robbie's new car. Finished the stickers on both cars. Still a couple of finishing touches to do tomorrow, it seems the more we go over them the more we find to do lol. It has been a busy couple of weeks it will be great to get out there and go racing. SRT is gearing up for a big night and hopefully come out the end of the night with some good results and 2 straight cars. I can't wait! Tell everyone to come out Saturday night for a look, with 29 cars nominated this is probably the biggest sprintcar field ever for Geraldton. It is going to be huge!
