13.01.2022 The SMJFL has appointed its new Chairman, Richard Bowen, at its Annual General Meeting tonight. I am deeply honoured to serve as the league’s Chairman. I would like to thank all of the league’s 25 member clubs for their ongoing support, he said. All our member clubs have done a fantastic job dealing with the challenges 2020 has presented. I look forward to working with and supporting the clubs throughout season 2021 and beyond.... 01.01.2022 Exciting times for AFLW and the SMJFL It was announced last week that former-SMJFL player Alice Burke, daughter of St Kilda Football Club legend Nathan Burke, had been signed to the St Kilda Football Club AFLW side under the Father-Daughter rule. Alice started her footy career with East Brighton Vampires Junior Football Club in 2016 in the U14s. She then made the move to Brighton Beach Junior Football Club in 2017 to play in U18s, and finishing off her final year in the le...ague with St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC in 2018. Alice was also selected to represent Sandringham Dragons in 2018 and 2019. Also in 2019 Alice was selected in the Vic Metro team that competed in the NAB AFLW U18 Championships.
