15.01.2022 Well, this smoke alarm was quite the surprise at a job we were working on in Parrearra, Sunshine Coast this week. Our customer told us she hadn't replaced the back-up battery in this alarm for a whopping 8.5 years and it hadn't beeped once that whole time (and yes, the alarm was still working properly)! This must be close to a record for a back-up battery of some sort! Needless to say, this alarm was replaced with a new as the old one had expired (older than 10 years). If... replaceable, we recommend the back-up battery in your alarm be changed out once per year (to avoid the alarm chirping at you in the middle of the night). If you have any questions about smoke alarms or have a problematic alarm at your house on the Sunshine Coast, we'd be only too happy to help! Call us today on 1800 SMOKE ALARM (1800 766 532) or text us anytime on 0447 377 453

13.01.2022 One of the things we stumbled upon crawling around in a roof space today in Moffat Beach. One guess what rodent did this! If you look closely, you can see they've chewed right down to the live copper conductors. Mmm, tasty! It pays to have a licensed electrician installing your smoke alarms so dangerous issues like this can be rectified whilst we're on site. This also highlights the importance of having safety switches installed on every circuit in your home (in this case, th...is home didn't). If you need smoke alarms installed in Moffat Beach, or any Sunshine Coast suburb, rely on the licensed, fastidious and 'rat-busting' electricians at Smoke Alarmed. 07.01.2022 It's just not smoke alarms we work on. As licensed electricians, here at Smoke Alarmed, we can also assist you with various electrical repairs and installations. A client reached out to us today with an urgent SOS as their kitchen light shorted out and nearly caught fire and they subsequently lost power (always happens on a Public Holiday doesn't it!?). Needless to say, they were very lucky to escape disaster. The plasterboard ceiling above this light fitting was charred/burnt. A new LED light has now been installed, a few modifications done in the main switchboard and crisis averted. If you need any electrical work done, just reach out to us on 1800 SMOKE ALARM or send us a text on 0447 377 453

06.01.2022 HARD WIRED and INTERCONNECTED: Two terms we often hear confused with each other when people talk about smoke alarms. They're two different things. Here's the difference: A HARD WIRED smoke alarm means it is wired and powered from the mains supply at the property. An INTERCONNECTED smoke alarm means it is interlinked with other smoke alarms, so when any one particular smoke alarm sounds, all smoke alarms in the property sound (this can be done wired or wirelessly)

06.01.2022 A quick overview of a smoke alarm installation we carried out in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast this week. In this particular property, we installed 7 x mains powered photoelectric smoke alarms with 10-year-life rechargeable lithium back up batteries (so there's no longer a need to replace the 9 volt batteries in each alarm each year). We also interconnected all 7 alarms so that whenever one alarm sounds, all alarms sound (to provide the earliest possible warning in the e...vent of fire). This home is now fully compliant with the incoming 2022 and 2027 QLD smoke alarm legislation. Not sure what that is and by when you need to comply? No problems - get in touch with us by calling 1800 SMOKE ALARM (1800 766 532) or send us a text on 0447 377 453

03.01.2022 QFES are the authority and legislators for smoke alarms in Queensland. You can get up to speed with the new incoming smoke alarm legislation here: https://www.qfes.qld.gov.au//smokealarms/Pages/default.aspx

01.01.2022 If your smoke alarms are often false-alarming, try this little trick - clean out the alarm inside and out with your vacuum cleaner. Most false alarms are caused by dust, cobwebs or insects caught in the sensor chamber inside the smoke alarm. And oftentimes, a vacuum cleaner will move enough air through the device to clean it out. An aerosol air blaster or a small electric blower will do the same thing

01.01.2022 Happy New Year from the team at Smoke Alarmed! We're back on deck on Monday 6th January and we look forward to assisting you with any smoke alarm repairs, installations and testing wherever you are on the Sunshine Coast. Wishing you and your family a safe and prosperous 2020! #smokealarmed #happynewyear #backtowork
