20.01.2022 Flashback to Sundays of yore, when #LiveMusic was still a thing!!! Our doors have sadly been closed since the lockdown began! This weekend would have marked our 2nd birthday, whilst were gutted not to have celebrated with you all, were thankful to have avoided the hangover and ringing ears!!! Our hearts ache for all those affected by #Covid, especially our wonderful friends working in the music industry who were left out of #JobKeeper. This was the last gig hosted at ...#SmokeyHorse before the #Pandemic hit, an inspiring #fundraiser for our local #RFS heroes during what was a horrific summer of #bushfires for our community. We raised a massive $3000 that went directly to local brigades!!! All the musicians volunteered their time in direct support of our local community, there were incredibly generous prizes donated for our raffle and the overall support was amazing, thank you In all honesty, our little family has actually enjoyed this down time together, a welcome break from the madness of #HospoLife! The garden at home is looking amazing, weve been @MarieKondo-ing the shit out of the house, catching up on odd jobs, spending quality time with the kids and Big Daddy is also back finishing off his Cert 4 in Education Support at CIT! #NoRestForTheWicked Its been hard to imagine ole Smokey operating under #SocialDistancing, our business has been built on socialising, accidental encounters, sharing of food, stories, laughs, music, poetry, film and so much more!Under current social distancing regulations, we just cant fit enough bums on seats inside, it just isnt viable to re-open and stay profitable, the risk is wed trade ourselves into a hole FEAR NOT WE WILL BE BACK!!! Smokey Horse will remain in hibernation mode until SEPTEMBER, this will allow us to take the kids on decent holiday (Summer was shit), finish some upgrades and improvements, then come back fully recharged. Hopefully by then all restrictions will be lifted and we can have killer gig to relaunch Watch this space!!! A massive thank you to everyone whos helped Smokey Horse become what it is. We're always conscious of the amazing legacy left behind by local legend Hugh Krinen, in this beautiful #HandCrafted building, now home to #SmokeyHorse. Where possible, we try to continue along the same vein, working primarily with #hardwood and solid rustic steel.... . The metal supports for our new outdoor benches were rescued minutes before being condemned to local landfill, when the old picnic tables were torn out during the Ryrie Park upgrades. The contractors were thankful to not have to cart them away to the tip themselves! After being lovingingly restored, they've been installed only a hundred metres or so from where they once stood. Finally got around to re-installing the beautiful #leadlight around the front door, originally crafted by former owner Lee Krinen. Local #artisan John Gannon did a great job, lovingly repairing the damage it had sustained! . We also installed some new #StripLighting which really accents the #StainedGlass! (Thanks again Nick for your expertise, lifesaver!!! )... .
