15.01.2022 The Dover and South Action Group Inc. are monitoring the Coronavirus outbreak closely. In light of the Federal Government in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer advising that non-essential gatherings of 500 or more should be suspended from Monday, the committee has decided to PROCEED with this Sundays Seafest event. At this point in time, the Department of Health is advising that the risk to the general public is low and strongly recommends that people unwell with c...ough, fever or other respiratory symptoms (particularly if they have recently returned from overseas) should not attend such events. While there have been a number of high profile events announce cancellations recently, we are a little more fortunate in that our vendors, entertainment and attendees are predominantly local to our event, unlike international trade shows and music festivals. We will be putting a number of measures in place in the lead-up to and during the event to minimise risks, such as: We advise people not to attend should they be feeling unwell. We request that attendees maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between themselves and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. There is plenty of space on the grassed areas and on the beach to spread out so bring your picnic chairs and blankets and enjoy the sea view. We encourage attendees to regularly and thoroughly clean hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash with soap and water. Hand soap with paper towels will be available in all toilets to encourage hand washing and bottles of hand sanitiser will be spaced around the event site. Toilets will be cleaned regularly with disinfectant throughout the day. Food & beverage vendors have been asked to provide staff with wash kits & sanitiser, regularly disinfect counter space and wear gloves etc The committee will do everything in our power to reduce the likelihood of transmission however its prudent to keep in mind that there are still only 4 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the State at present. The choice ultimately lies with you and we ask that you make a decision whether to attend or not that you are comfortable with. As you can appreciate, this is an evolving situation. Should things change further, we will advise as soon as possible.
