25.01.2022 In 2021, the Mininera & District Football league is celebrating its 100 year anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the league is putting together a publication comtaining the history of the league and all of its clubs. This includes the SMW Rovers, as well as the standalone clubs prior to the merger. 24.01.2022 ROVERS SPINNING WHEEL Although the senior season has had the pin pulled on it the club is still running in the background and working on some projects. So in keeping the spirit of things rolling were going to hold a fundraiser and we completely understand some people may be going through a tough time.... But like everyone the club still has bills to pay so in teaming up with a couple of our long running sponsors in Table 48 and The Park Hotel we are going to be running a Facebook live feed spinning wheel. The idea of this is to keep everybody in touch as well as supporting some of our sponsors and continuing to reward our members and supporters with some great prizes. Everyones support would be greatly appreciated. The Spinning Wheel The spinning wheel will consist of 200 tickets and once sold the spinning wheel will run over a 5 week period with 4 draws every week. Tickets will be $25 For your $25 you will be entered in 20 draws over 5 weeks These will include $100 cash, $50 Table 48 meal voucher, $25 Park Hotel voucher and a rolling $50 jackpot draw. Which will start at $50 and the winner will have 10 minutes to comment on the Facebook live feed otherwise it will jackpot to the following week. The potential prize will be $250 if not claimed throughout the draws. Once its claimed the following week will reset back to $50. In what was an exciting match at Tatyoon, the Rovers held on to beat arch rivals Wickliffe Lake Bolac by just 4 points! 2000 MDFL Reserves Grand Final: SMW Rovers: 2.0, 4.1, 7.4, 9.5 (59)... 20.01.2022 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT SMW Rovers are delighted to announce Brad Butch Scott and Andy Jose as joint Reserves coaches for the 2020 season. Butch steps up into the role in a playing coach capacity after a successful 2019 as premiership captain. With over 200 games experience over the last 13 seasons, we are excited to see what Butch can bring to the role in season 2020. ... Andy has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach after retiring due to injury in 2017. Andy has been a very loyal clubman since arriving to the club in 2005 and will bring plenty of experience to the role. Wed like to thank outgoing reserves coach Ben Tait for taking on the role for the last three seasons. Ben had an incredibly successful stint bringing home 2 premierships from 3 grand final appearances. Fortunately Ben will remain around the club next year as a player. Preseason training will commence next Monday (09/12). More details to come.

20.01.2022 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT SM&W Rovers are pleased to announce the signing of Kallen Young as Senior Football coach for season 2020. After spending the past two seasons as part of the senior playing group, Kal has stepped up to lead our young playing group into 2020.... Kal brings along a wealth of coaching experience to the table having coached Trentham for two seasons, Sebastopol for two seasons and Newlyn for three seasons. As well as having an assistant coach role at North Ballarat City. Along with the appointment, we would also like to welcome Kals wife Lauren and three kids Mason, Alexandra and Ava into our family oriented club. We would like to thank our departing senior coachs Louis Franc and Kane Tolliday for their service over the last three seasons. We wish you both well and hope to see you back around the club in the future.

10.01.2022 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT SMW Rovers FNC are excited to announce Ben Jackson as a Senior Assistant coach for the 2020 season. After suffering a serious knee injury last season, Ben will step up into a coaching role while he continues his rehabilitation. Ben has been a major part of the senior playing group for the last 4 seasons, so we are excited to see what he can bring to the role. Good luck Ben!

05.01.2022 Fantastic news yesterday with the announcement of a $115k upgrade to the Mininera Recreation Reserve football oval. This project will involve complete resurfacing of the football oval and installation of an automatic irrigation system including electrical upgrades and installation of a water storage tank. This project will replace the existing sprinkler system which will be a relief to our local community members who have done a great job in preparing the oval in years gone... by. We thank the Ararat Rural City Council for financing this project and we cant wait for sport to return to Mininera in the near future! The Ararat Advocate Ararat Rural City Council

03.01.2022 Season 2020 Update A meeting with league delegates was held last night to discuss the 2020 football and netball season. After much discussion, it was decided it would be best to delay any decision regarding 2020 season until at least the 22nd of June. This will allow time for further clarification from AFL Victoria, Netball Victoria, and the state government as to the resumption of community sport. ... Thank you all for your patience during these tough times. Hopefully well have sport return to the region soon!
