24.01.2022 Five Reasons to Try Polocrosse Pony Club Members - your Club contacts last week were emailed an information sheet on Polocrosse, and ways to try it out at a ral...ly if you havent done it before. We have the support the Polocrosse Association of Australia, who have also given us a list of all clubs in each state, if your club wants to make contact and get someone out to run a session with your members. The link below takes you to Come n Try Information sheet and the contact list for polocrosse clubs. Another club in your zone may also have equipment they will loan you to test run this sport. http://www.ponyclubaustralia.com.au//Disciplineofthemonth. We hope if you give it a go, you will send some photos in and tell us about it. And that is just the first - each month for the rest of 2020 we will be sending out information on a discipline of the month - many of which will be new to your club. Enjoy!

11.01.2022 Its Not All About Winning We love this idea from Mornington Peninsula Pony Club (Vic) Karina Bartlett says "We initiated this at our club competition last week...end, with a great response. Certificates were awarded by the stewards over our 2 day competition. Id love to see this at other dressage comps; be it PC, Interschools and EA to help improve the culture of dressage." Not just dressage - its a great idea anytime and good sportsmanship is what Pony Club is about. Tell us what you think riders would be doing to get an award like this?

04.01.2022 THE LIGHTHORSEMAN A TRIBUTE When Australia joined the war against Germany in 1914, there were 23 Light Horse Regiments. The Light Horse were seen as the na...tional arm of Australias defence and young men flocked to join. Many brought their own horses and some even brought their dogs. Recruits undertook a riding test which might include riding a horse bareback over a water jump and sod wall (a grass bank) or jumping a log fence. A strict medical test was undertaken also. Their uniform issued was AIF jacket, cord riding breeches, leather puttee laggings bound by a spiral strap (gaiters) and the famous Australian Slouch hat and a distinctive leather bandolier that carried 90 rounds of ammunition. A solder would be paid by the government around $60 for using their own horse if it were at standard. Those without their own horse would be given remounts called Walers. They were called Walers because they were New South Wales Stockhorse types strong, great hearted animals with speed, strength and stamina. Each horse was branded with the initials of the purchasing officer, government broad arrow and an army number on one hoof. The Waler would often be carrying up to 150 kilos over long distances in searing heat, sometimes at gallop and sometimes without water for 60 or 70 hours. The men would build unimaginable bonds with their horse as they came to depend on them for their very lives. Unfortunately, the Light Horse would not be able to return to Australia after the war due to Quarantine regulations. Many soldiers had planned to buy their horses back from the Army. An order was issued to have the older horses shot, as horrible as this seemed, many men thought this would be better than leaving their horse behind to be cruelly treated. The Light Horseman will be remembered for their mental qualities, discipline, their gifts of adaptability and earned the gratitude of the Empire and admiration of the world. LEST WE FORGET

02.01.2022 Hi all, So in lieu of a zone certificate page PCV has created pages for each cert level for members to join. I will be sharing them on here for you to be add. W...hen accepted please share a little about you and your riding/horse to introduce yourself. If you need any help at all (either adding the pages or with cert. work) let me know! p.s. there are also coaching pages for NCAS Prelim and Level 1 if you are a coach/looking to get a cert.

01.01.2022 We received 56 entries in our competition to design a Pony Club Australia long-sleeved polo. We were blown away by the ideas, attention to detail and creativity... shown by our members. It was very hard to create a shortlist of six, so we made a shortlist of eight instead! You can view the top eight here, in random order. Now we need your help to choose the winning design which will form the basis of a polo top that will be made available for everyone to purchase and wear. Please do not vote here. To make your vote count, please go to the online survey at https://tinyurl.com/y9xygqwc Voting closes 10pm May 17, 2020. Please note you can only vote once from each device.

01.01.2022 Hi riders, parents and supporting members, Could you please take the time to fill in this survey? Its important you have your say.

01.01.2022 Our pony club neighbors in Ballan have extended the entries for their HT until Sunday... Has anyone else entered already?
