25.01.2022 BANANA AND OATS These look absolutely delicious - super simple and easy to make! Theyre full of healthy carbs, loads of fibre and healthy fats if you choose to any add-ins! What you need: 2 large bananas, mashed 1 3/4 cups quick oats, or blended rolled oats... How to make them: 1 Mash the banana and oats together, form into six cookies (bear in mind that they wont rise) and place on a baking tray. 2 Bake for 15-20 mins at 180 degrees Celsius/350 degrees Fahrenheit. The best thing about these is that there are so many options for customisation! Here are some optional add-ins: 2 tbsp dessicated coconut 2 tbsp peanut butter 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 cup raisins These are a great morning tea snack or lunch box addition!

25.01.2022 Understanding how to read food labels can help you make healthy food choices. Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) regulates food labelling in Australia. Most packaged food and drink must have a nutrition information panel. Exceptions include those in very small packages, some baked products and take-away food. The nutrition information panel provides a detailed description of the food or drink. It is useful for comparing products and choosing healthier options.... The nutrition information panel contains the following information: Serving size & number of servings per package Nutrients within the listed serving size and per 100g: o Energy (kilojoules/calories) o Protein o Total fat and saturated fat o Total carbohydrate and sugars o Sodium (salt) o Fibre (may not always be present) Warning about the presence of food allergens e.g. nuts, gluten, milk etc. Always try go for products that use real food, and 5-7 ingredients or less! Dont forget to check your portion sizes too @ Sydney, Australia

24.01.2022 A dairy free, peanut and caramel delight! Our Pantry Manager @kathchetner bringing you a healthier version of a Snickers Bar! [GF, V, DF] Makes 12-14 pieces | Calories: 120 C: 22g, F: 3.1g, P: 2g... In this recipe you will be making your own chocolate using a superfood known as cacao! Its a chocolatey-food that contains many benefits - its rich in flavonoids (antioxidants), essential fatty acids, fibre, B vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, calcium, sulfur, iron and zinc. It also contains phenylethylamine (PEA), a chemical our bodies produce naturally when we are excited. PEA is known to increase focus and alertness, that results in a similar feeling to when we are excited or fall in love! INGREDIENTS Base * 12-15 dates, pitted * 3-5 tablespoons natural almond or peanut butter * Dash of Pink Himalayan Chocolate Coating * 1/4 cup unrefined coconut oil * 1/4 cup raw cacao powder * 3-4 tablespoons rice malt syrup METHOD 1. If your dates are not soft enough, soak them in warm water for 20 minutes 2. Drain the dates and throw them in the food processor along with nut butter and himalayan salt. Process until a sticky dough forms. *Side note: if the consistency is too liquidy for you, add dates If it is too sticky, add peanut butter, which will make it taste more like a Snickers 3. Roll into balls and chill in the freezer 4. Meanwhile, melt coconut oil over low heat or in a microwave. Remove from heat, then add cacao and maple syrup, and mix until smooth 5. Coat caramels in the melted chocolate mixture and place in the freezer to set. Enjoy!

24.01.2022 Part - Craving Sweets and Carbs (part 1/2)! Sugar cravings or constant cravings for carb-y foods can have a number of potential underlying causes. Below is the first few reasons covered. Youre Over Restricting Food... Consider your relationship with sugar and carbs. If you tend to label these foods as bad, or unhealthy, or youre restricting them too much in your diet, this can contribute to a negative relationship with these foods. Significant restrictions of these foods combined with feelings of guilt or shame when eating them can actually cause us to think more about them and crave them more intensely. A way around this would be to try heal your relationship with sugar or carbs which may help to alleviate cravings all together. Try intuitive eating to start to understanding your cravings and make peace with foods you lack trust around. Youre Hungry or Fatigued Not eating enough at meal times or skipping meals can cause the body to look for the quickest source of energy it can find. Sugar and carbohydrates (specifically refined carbohydrates) are absorbed quickly and give us a boost in energy, causing cravings to set in after a day of limited food intake. Your Sleep is Off Research suggests a strong link between sleep quality and sugar cravings. Restless nights affect brain regions that control decision making and reward responses, resulting in increased cravings for sugar, as well as fat and salt. A lack of sleep also affects hormones like ghrelin and leptin, which regulate your hunger levels throughout the day, and may lead to an increase in cravings of quick energy sources like sugar and carbs. @ Sydney, Australia

20.01.2022 Craving Salt? - Cravings for salty foods can be a cue that youre stressed and overexerted. Thats because chronic stress can disrupt adrenal gland function. Along with regulating your stress hormone, cortisol, the adrenals are also responsible for regulating sodium via the production of the hormone aldosterone. When youre body is stressed, it produces high levels of cortisol, which can lead to a decrease in the production of aldosterone. This can cause an imbalance of ...sodiumand an itch for something salty. If this sounds like you, focus on ways to manage and reduce stress, such as mindfulness and meditation, yoga and exercise, and improving sleep. Dehydration or excessive sweating can also increase salt cravings. These cravings tend to be in more extreme cases such as excessive sweating from endurance training or working in very hot environments. You also might want to watch out for this if youre frequently taking hot yoga classes or other heated workouts, or if youre consistently not getting enough hydrating beverages into your day. @ Sydney, Australia
