25.01.2022 HERE IT IS!! Fly Free little book!! https://www.pozible.com/profile/veronika-ross

25.01.2022 I've been totally numb and it wasn't until I was talking to a dear friend on the phone that the enormity of what's just happened is starting to hit. It takes a village. It takes one person to have a dream, but we can't achieve anything without a team beside us and behind us. This has taken a village. A global village that sees the importance of this dear little book. A village-my village- your village-who have loved me and supported me and encouraged me to DREAM. And some peo...ple haven't-they have been the absolute exact opposite-and they have also been a part of this-because they showed me so clearly what I DIDN'T want... All of those little tiny things are the huge enormous big things that have all come together to be this moment right now. My heart is overflowing with gratitude right now for Every.Single.Moment that has lead to this moment. This started out as a tiny little seed, planted in the darkness. This seed has been tucked away inside me during some of the most difficult, the most incredibly hellish moments of my life. Times where it was literally just keep breathing, because I couldn't do anything else. It has been there. Waiting. For the love, for the light, for the water and yes, for the shit..To grow. All those things are needed to grow tall and strong and straight after we are pushed down and broken and trampled on. After we have to lay down and rest. After we have the strength to turn our heads and breathe. The bigger the pile of compost the better we can grow. Never forget that. And don't forget to dream. Because sometimes that's all we have. And that's what this little book once was. 'Just' a dream. See more

24.01.2022 Hey folks. I had a lady called Amanda get in touch yesterday via a message. From Margate. I cannot find your message anywhere despite looking through everything. Can you please get in touch again? My number is 0414064972. At least it can't disappear! So sorry! UPDATE! AMANDA HAS BEEN FOUND-THANKYOU EVERYONE!!

23.01.2022 This is Gleeson, one of our semi regular Tiger snake visitors. He was here back in March, supervising hubby as he was doing work in the yard-much to hubby's surprise lol I had a feeling he was still around and today hubby found him having a sunbake in the woodshed. We have partitioned off the door to the woodshed with an old screen door, with the blue metal scooped out underneath so he can duck back in, but anything bigger, like DustyDog can't, leaving a safe space for him. I certainly hope he's making short work of the abundance of mice in the sheds that have migrated in over the Winter, destructive stinky things!

23.01.2022 Hey folks. We're really getting into the warmer weather now and I just wanted to remind you to please be mindful of all animals really-but in particular-with snakes. A really good idea is to put out water on the boundaries of your property and this will help keep snakes away if they're just looking for a drink. Here is a little guy I came across this morning please be kind to all animals, not just the cute and fluffy ones.

22.01.2022 Hi everyone! RE:My Dad Thinks Snakes are Scary We have had a few behind the scenes hiccups, nothing dramatic, but the thing I had most wished for to go as smoothly as possible -was the delivery date...aaand yep-you guessed it-it's been delayed! Actually it's twice now...So the new date is the 7th of December, which has me more than a little unimpressed as now we'll have to be extra super duper organised instead of having a nice buffer to get things out and into the post in t...ime for Christmas. We will be organizing to have the interstate and overseas copies out and posted first...I'm not sure if the overseas copies will get to you in time for Christmas...I am keeping EVERYTHING crossed and will be looking at expedited shipping for you guys. On a brighter note-the beautiful Bronwyn at the Hobart BookShop tucked away in Salamanca has ever so kindly offered to be a pick up point for anyone local that would like to pick up their copy...SO! If it is convenient for you and you can pick up from Bronwyn, please shoot me an email at [email protected] and let me know, so we can get your copies organised and dropped off. I don't want anyone to not get their copy in time to go under the tree so the rest of the locals may well get a hand delivered copy in their letterbox! We are also trying to wangle our way into an official book launch, so will keep you updated in regards to that too. Covid-you suck! I am lucky enough to have an 'advance copy' in my hot little hands and I'm not ashamed to tell you I got a little teary. It's BEAUTIFUL! The cover is just so lovely. Kent has done a fabulous job with the front and back covers and all the innards and I CANNOT wait for you to see it! It's the culmination of a lifelong dream to have written a book-one I never actually thought could ever happen, not to mention an absolute bucketload of work-waaay more than I ever expected. But isn't it always the way?! It's also very bittersweet as our adopted mum who was such a massive advocate and supporter passed away last month and she never got to see the completed book. She got to see the print proof-but I so desperately wanted her to hold a copy, and it wasn't to be. I trust your November is going as well as any month this crazy year can offer and am sending out big hugs to you all. Much love, Veronika.

22.01.2022 This short doco is absolutely fabulous. Best half hour spent watching this. Ross has done a brilliant job...

22.01.2022 My first call out to a live ( non rubber!) This afternoon to Collinsvale to an awesome couple having had this guy bunk down in absolutely spectacular gardens for the last few days. Huge goldfish/frog pond...honestly what more could you want!

22.01.2022 Folks. After many revisions and the realisation we had some crucial points missing, I have-in my hot little hands-the print proof of My Dad Thinks Snakes are Scary. This is to make sure that Every.Little. Thing. Is perfect before we run off the entire print run...You can have a lil sneak peek after we take it to Joan <3

22.01.2022 Hey everybody! These beautiful days are bringing out the Bluetongues! A callout today to a relatively new Australian proved to be an adult Blue Tongue having a sunbake in the gorgeous garden. Keep your gloves on, keep your mobile handy, and a Setopress bandage-just in case... make sure you don't put your hands where you can't see them. Enjoy these beautiful days, it's supposed to be 16 on Saturday!! Bikini weather!!

21.01.2022 Ok. Let's be honest here-who wouldn't love this??

21.01.2022 It's midnight. I can't sleep. The book launch is tomorrow. Technically today now and despite the fact I've done displays for over a decade, I'm feeling nervous. Because a book launch isn't really a display even though we're taking James and the dragons and Platinum the Sheoak and I've never done a book launch before. It's weird. I still don't feel it's real and this is actually happening. It's here. It's hatched. It's been born. We've published the book...Copies are winging... their way across the globe and it doesn't feel real yet. When does it feel real?? I hold that beautiful book in my hands and turn the pages with Sonia's beautiful drawings and Kent's worked his magic and it's way better than I ever imagined...and it's beautiful. The cover, the colours, the papers...it's all so beautiful...And I'm a part of that. As is everyone who has helped along the way and all those who have supported us. I'm so grateful for my friends, and family that have encouraged me and and nagged me and for those tiny moments when I thought. Maybe. Maybe we Can do this. Kylie Dunn was probably the first one who made me think this was maybe possibly possible. Sonia Strong who kept popping up in my life...divine intervention methinks...there are no coincidences...you were right in front of me that evening in your spiffy coffee cart with Jack on the side, with your lovely books I've bought for friends right at the front...genuinely happy that I'd had a publisher say yes to helping me with my story...who knew then what would transpire This is my legacy. I hold so much hope for this little book. So.much.Hope that this will make a difference for snakes the world over. See more

20.01.2022 Update #4 https://www.pozible.com/profile/veronika-ross

17.01.2022 For those in more rural areas concerned about snakes in the kids sandpit. Also keeps the cats using it as a litter box and too much sun on skin

17.01.2022 Book Magick in New Norfolk-you seriously made my YEAR! I was taking in a few copies of our book, when what did I spot on a shelf but Song of the Snake by Eric Worrell. It's just been on my wishlist for OVER A DECADE!! Be still my beating heart. Now on MY shelf lovely to be supported with My Dad Thinks, it's been a shit of a year in more ways than one, but we actually achieved a dream I honestly never thought would happen.

16.01.2022 A friend just shared the Pozible link and said something that just hit me like a ton of bricks...psst-you're an author now! I've loved reading and books since I was a smidge...I'd read the newspaper to my beloved Poppy sitting on his lap at 5 apparently...they have always been a place of refuge in a somewhat ugly childhood and adolescence. A place to escape, and go literally anywhere the story took me with classics and Soil Biology (totally random in mums bookcase but I LOVED... it in primary school and beyond lol)and even into adulthood I just wish I had more time to read. Books are like an addiction. We can learn, unlearn, journey deep into ourselves and fly away deep in flights of fantasy...all at your fingertips. And now I'm going to be a keeper of the keys too. I'm excited. I'm actually a little teary right now. And I simply cannot wait to hold this beautiful book in my hands and pass it into the hands of children everywhere. To help keep them safe. To help allay fears. To teach them love and respect for a creature that I hold so so close to my heart. Thankyou, to each and every one of you who has shared and pledged. We are making a long held dream into a reality. See more

14.01.2022 Some info on dry bites explained very well.

12.01.2022 Update #4 Veronika Ross https://www.pozible.com/profile/veronika-ross

12.01.2022 This beautiful soul is 89 year old Joan. Unlike most of her generation she's a fierce advocate for reptiles and snakes. One of my dearest friends and supporters was laid to rest on Friday and I don't know exactly how to feel right now. Family isn't always blood. Joan was like an adopted Mum to both my husband and I and indeed I recieved more support and love and encouragement from Joan than I ever have from my own parents. I just had to share this photo-it's a favourite among many favourites. Rest in Peace my darling.

12.01.2022 On July 23, something incredible happened at the Charles H. Hoessle Herpetarium at the Saint Louis Zoo a ball python laid eggs! That might not sound too thril...ling to some, but to our Herpetarium staff it definitely was. This particular female snake is over 50 years old (the oldest snake documented in a Zoo) and has not been with a male in over 15 years! Ball pythons, native to central and western Africa, are known to reproduce sexually and asexually, which is called facultative parthenogenesis. Snakes are also known to store sperm for delayed fertilization. Now the question is, which of the two explanations is the reason for the eggs? Without genetic testing, Zoo staff won't know if this ball python reproduced sexually or asexually, but they intend to find out. As the keepers continue to incubate the eggs, they will be sending off samples for genetic testing. #KeeperPerspective #BringTheStlZooToYou

Thankyou for going waaay out of your comfort zone and making my story beautiful

11.01.2022 Driving our little Tiger to the vet and saw this pretty fella sunning himself in the middle of the road. Thought he'd been squished, but no, moved off quickly and I was lucky enough to grab a quick video of him! Do you know what species? 3 snakes and 2 blueys in 2 days!

11.01.2022 Are you on Bruny or know someone on the Island who could benefit from this training? Please share and get the word out.

10.01.2022 This beautiful guy has made himself at home at our home. Unfortunately we have an elderly pooch who loves to run up and dob her nose on anything that moves, so hubby and I waited patiently and he's now down the hill away from the yard. It's a shame, I love seeing him about. But he is safer outside our yard.

09.01.2022 Pozible campaign has officially ended

09.01.2022 Alongside the story, we have a little bit about first aid, each of the Tasmanian snakes and some crazy snake names. For all the teachers and educators out there-we have teaching notes too!
