20.01.2022 "Hatchie Season" is in full swing, 3x calls this weekend to local suburb of Aveley to remove these guys. Cute little things, but they are baby Dugites (Pseudonaja affins) after all. Often referred to as "Danger Noodles" Baby Dugites occur mid-February through to mid-April. These are 15-35 cm in length and can be brown, green or yellowish in colour, but always hatch with at least part of the head black as per my pictures. ... Please treat with caution. It is recorded that the bite from a juvenile is unlikely to cause more than local symptoms in a 'healthy' adult, however I have spoken to several people that were hospitalized as a result from a "Danger Noodle" These snakes are recorded as being potentially dangerous to children and pets. They may find there way into the house via the exclusion flaps. Often found in the laundry, bathroom and toilet floor. Please check these swing freely and not blocked 'open' with sand. If you encounter a snake in your house, try and place a box / tub over the top of them (if you feel you can) until they can be moved safely by a person trained in Snake handling. Few hatchies survive the first few months - spiders (You may have seem on You Tube Red Back V Dugite) , scorpions, centipedes, birds, lizards, cats and naturally 'us' Humans are some of the predators they must contend with.
19.01.2022 I usually only share snake related business on my page, but this is an exception as I'm in it!!
17.01.2022 Snake Relocations has been 'relocating itself' as I have moved into a new address over Christmas, however still in Aveley. Apologies to those that have called in the past weeks, and I have not been able to assist, but lack of spare time and high demand at work (Paid Work) has taken any spare time I have. I did manage to get out the other morning early and assist in the relocating a baby Tiger Snake from Aveley. (Photo to follow) poor internet at current place. ... This time of year I have traditionally seen a rise in juvenile snakes, and as per juvenile children, they are explorers, unlike Children "Mum, or Dad" do not assist in their upbringing - They are left to their own devices which means coming into peoples back yards, often for no reason. Baby venomous snakes still require caution, they are born with venom glands. Their fangs however may be a little shorter than Mum and Dad.
15.01.2022 Baby Dugite calls per the hours at present!! Sadly I can't respond to all calls as I'm just a volunteer and have a fulltime job to attend to to keep the wolves from the door
13.01.2022 War on wasps! Our Parks and Wildlife Service officers have been working with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development to monitor and destro...y European wasp nests in Greenmount National Park in the Perth Hills. This invasive pest commonly nests underground and feeds on other insects, meat, scraps and pet food. They are aggressive when their nest is threatened and are harmful to people, our outdoor lifestyle and biodiversity. Although our monitoring hasn’t detected any wasps within the park’s boundary so far, we’re only mid-season, so please keep a look out for wasps and report any potential sightings by phoning 9368 3080.
13.01.2022 Another happy Equestrian family
12.01.2022 Another 'bedroom visitor' at The Vines yesterday afternoon Thai rather handsome brute of a Dugite displayed once again the striking colour variation of this species.
10.01.2022 A lovely young lady didn't care much for a late Valentine's visitor to her bedroom this afternoon, maybe a rose may have convinced her better Mr Dugite? Successful capture and release.

07.01.2022 Rescue Call this afternoon to an injured Dugite. Sadly by time of arrival it was deceased. When you're 5 foot long it's a bit hard to move your bum out of the way of a 60kph car. ... Thanks to my Son for the unflattering picture
02.01.2022 A very busy weekend and week so far, the Tiger Snakes sure are making their presence felt in the area. I have also relocated the first of the baby Dugite's of this season. Likely to see baby Dugite's until Easter now.
