25.01.2022 This has been one of the longest drawn out sagas...still no decision months after a simple solution was offered to the government and department...and this will cost zero $... https://www.facebook.com/groups/1987180608079180/permalink/2091096754354231/

24.01.2022 Got a call from WLV just as I was putting my pizza in my pizza oven around 6.20pm... Kangaroo in the park, under a tree... I pulled my pizza out and put it in the fridge then headed into the park in my car... I arrived in about 10mins with directions from the MOP on scene... He was a very big male, 90kg...he was lying down but only able to move his front legs...he had been there a while...maybe a few days because he had dug a circular trench trying to get up...... I knelt down and placed a blanket over his head and started to free him from long grass plants his back legs were stuck in...I then started to check over his hips and up his spine...couldn't get any response I rolled him on his back and just couldn't get a kick from him either(the one time I was hoping to get a kick from a big boy), again nothing...no response, he was in pain as i rolled him back on his side...I tried to lift him under his arms but couldn't get him to stand... I gave him some water and after telling him how sorry I was I gave him his wings I'm sorry big boy... After an hour of being with him it is now 8pm, dark...and my car decides it doesn't want to start I called Sue as she also has access to the park https://www.facebook.com/SuesRoosRescue/ to see if I could get a jump start, I felt it was battery issue from having my lights on...I have dual batteries but obviously the one that starts the car had gone flat I then remembered I had some Mange treatment wire frames in my car so after bending them out and insulating them with a towel from touching each other I hit the ignition... Lucky I treat wombats and watched MacGuyver as a child... Thx Sue https://www.facebook.com/SuesRoosRescue/ and Glen for getting ready to come to my rescue

23.01.2022 Another day off work...wildlife don't want me to relax... Got a case from Wildlife Victoria about a roo in the Ausnet compound in Rowville... I went down to assess and found a male adult roo who was very mobile, just somehow ended up in a bad place overnight... There was no way I was going to capture him on my own, the area was wide open so no chance of netting him... I put in a call to Dr Elaine Ong and Dr Chris Barton https://www.facebook.com/vetsforcompassion/... who devote a lot of their time and funds helping us with wildlife rescues.... Luckily they had just finished on another case with a joey...so they headed straight over and after a short while managed to dart him... He is now safely back home... See more

22.01.2022 Wouldn't this be nice...

22.01.2022 Sometimes as rescuers we encounter tricky situations...Good work Andrew Cameron https://www.facebook.com/Andyj1987 from Wildlife Rescuers for an excellent rescue https://www.facebook.com/101955839855946/posts/3681470018571159/

22.01.2022 Thx Dr Elaine Ong & Dr Chris Barton from https://www.facebook.com/vetsforcompassion/ for coming to help with a mobile roo in Rowville today... He was in a backyard and not in a great location in the middle of housing estate... Luckily it was an easy job with skilled darting by Dr Chris Barton...things can turn quite quickly in a rescue but experienced darters make a huge difference... After he fell asleep he was blanketed, given a thorough check over then released back into the park... Happy ending for once

20.01.2022 Gotta hate the late night call...nothing good comes from them... Sadly I finish the day with a young joey...only around 8kg... Hit by a car... Fly high young boy, sorry you had to end your life when it was only just beginning Slow the 'F@#$' down peeps

17.01.2022 I got a call tonight from a local a few kilometres away, normally they call about an injured roo... so it was nice for once not to deal with road or fence injured animals. This time they had found a Raven that was struggling in their yard...it wasn't really flying and had other birds swooping it...sadly birds target ones not in the best of health... I was thinking maybe it's a fledgling or perhaps the wind was giving it grief I thought.. When I arrived I checked it over and n...oticed it's right eye was crusted over...I don't normally do many bird rescues but have not seen this before... He is now being assessed at https://www.facebook.com/vrh247/.. UPDATE : Sadly this fella had a ruptured eyeball and was given his final flight...Thx to the VRH - Dandenong https://www.facebook.com/vrh247/ for all they do for our wildlife...All vets treat wildlife for free and without them our job would be impossible

10.01.2022 Hope this young girl makes it...we have had far too many at foot joeys suffering the same fate...appears to be Hook Worm infestation...she has been dosed and put into care, in a nice warm enclosure

07.01.2022 Two more emaciated and sick roos given their wings today... Both covered in lice and flat flies... Really need to get to the bottom of why so many are dying in the same small area in and around the park

06.01.2022 Today is World Kangaroo Day...wish this country protected and respected our wildlife, just a little https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3572655132780485&id=194546257258073

05.01.2022 Reports of this incident on the radio suggested it was a council ranger who captured this displaced kangaroo...I was worried that the poor animal would have suffered immense stress...thankfully it wasn't a ranger...but it was a very experienced rescuer Andrew https://www.facebook.com/Andyj1987 from Wildlife Rescuers...like all of us Wildlife rescuers they are volunteers and receive no government funding...if you can spare a few dollars please click on their link to help with rescue costs... Hopefully this kangaroo makes a full recovery after what would have been a very stressful morning... https://www.facebook.com/101955839855946/posts/3683113145073513/
