23.01.2022 LET'S TALK MEAL PREP - A post by PT Nancie Meal prep is one of the easiest ways to make sure your eating stays on point. Having everything ready in the fridge makes life so much more convenient and makes it easier to stick to eating the right foods. I meal prep every Sunday and Wednesday (only because I don't like eating anything after it's been frozen) if you don't mind freezing your food, you can make a whole heap on one day and thaw it as needed. Honestly it takes absolu...tely no time at all to stay healthy! If you want your body to be a lean, mean, shredding machine, you need to fuel it with the right foods. Do not starve yourself, eat often, stay away from anything processed, and stick with fresh meats, veggies and whole grains. You'll feel fuller for longer and a lot more energised.. 22.01.2022 MOST ACTIVE MEMBERS OCTOBER A massive WELL DONE to our top 10 most active members for October! Bobby White took out #1 with a massive 50 visits. That's almost two sessions every day of the month! Consistency is key! A consistent routine will take some time to develop. After a couple of weeks, it will be part of your every day routine. Once you hit that level it is smooth sailing, almost 'auto-pilot.' Sure, in the beginning it will be difficult at times to prepare all your m...eals, do all your cardio, and hit every training session but you will get used to it and there will come a point where you will not even think about it because it will be a consistent part of your daily routine. It is just a matter of convincing yourself that you can do it, and giving yourself time to get there. The more time you do it, the more confidence you will develop to stick with it. 21.01.2022 HOW TO BUILD A A STRONG PULL UP - A post by PT Nancie Pull ups are one of the best ways to build a strong (and sexy) back! Don’t worry if you suck at them, or even can’t do them, that's ok! We asked PT Nancie to share some tips towards building a strong pull up. ... One of the simplest ways to improve your pull up is by hanging! Get a timer out, grab the bar and hold on for as long as you can! Aim to increase the duration of the hang every time you do it (this will significantly improve grip and back strength ). Banded pull ups, and lat pull downs are an important part of the equation too! For bands - progress by doing more reps each time then switch to a thinner band, rinse and repeat until you no longer need a band For lat pull downs- progressively work your way up in weight towards your body weight, and then add some! It’s *essentially* the same movement, so if you have a strong lat pull down you’ll have the strength to do a pull up

19.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE SNAP FITNESS MIAMI REMAINS OPEN! Greater Brisbane is on a 3-day lockdown, so we thought we’d confirm with you all that we ARE OPEN and are functioning AS NORMAL. 24/7 access remains available for all members however we ask you respect the Government guidelines and only train in our Club if you enforce the below;... 1. Swipe upon entry (no swipe ins for friends. One access card per member). 2. Hand sanitise upon entry. 3. Use your towel on all equipment (no sharing of towels). 4. Wipe down all equipment before and after use. 5. Bring a water bottle to fill as there is still no access to the bubbler. 6. Ensure you social distance for the safety of yourself and others (1.5m). 7. Stay away from the gym if you are unwell. If you are unwell, we will ask you to turn around and go home to ensure everyone remains safe. We hope you can all abide by the rules so we can remain open for you to smash your 2021 New Year resolutions! Let’s gooo

Thanks to our generous members we were able to donate over $200 for the AWLQ by collecting coins at the front desk.... AWLQ's impact in 2020 so far has been amazing With your help since 1 January 2020, 3,208 animals have found permanent, loving new homes; *Birds and Fowl - 94 *Cats and Kittens - 2,038 *Dogs and Puppies - 922 *Guinea Pigs and Rodents - 151 *Farm Animals - 3 Total: 3,208 We will be keeping the collection tin at the front desk, so please continue to donate where you can! Remember members have the ability to place their membership on hold for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks each calendar year for just $5/fortnight instead of your usual dues. 17.01.2022 HOW TO HOLD YOUR PLANK LONGER - A tip by PT Nancie! 1. Grab your mobile phone 2. Find a good YouTube video 3. Chuck her on, put your phone down... 4. Get into that plank position and ENJOY! Planks are not only a great exercise for strengthening your core, but also for strengthening your spine, your rhomboids and traps! Developing your posture can improve on a number of aliments, and prevent the onset of other ones. Good posture means you’re keeping your bones aligned. 15.01.2022 HOW MUCH DO YOU FOCUS ON GLUTES? - A post by PT Codie If you have tight hips, it can be common to have lazy glutes (lack of activation). Booty bands are a great tool for glute activation! I see it in many clients and experience this myself. Doing some simple glute activation drills before your session will have you feeling it more and will take the load off those tight hip flexors. You can achieve this by performing something as simple as a crab walk with a booty band! (If yo...u haven’t got a booty band, you can grab one at reception!) Here are some simple tips to help you through:... 1. Keep moving - step count makes a difference; 2. Have lighter, nutrient dense meals prior to your event and perhaps fill up if the event is just snack food and drinks (hint, protein and healthy fats will keep you full); 3. Opt for lower sugar options for drinks, these can add up quick. Eg Spirits with soda water, non sweet wines, low carb beers etc 4. Drink plenty of water; 5. And most of all - HAVE FUN! Adjusting your position and movement can also isolate a specific area. I find it great a challenge when purely focusing on raising through the glutes ... It is important to ensure you are maintaining balance between the front and back of the body, particularly if you are sitting a lot for work and travel etc. Give this one a go!
